Well, Toby is at the vet's waiting to be neutered. I am surprisingly calm. The vet was quite nice, didn't rush us at all, and answered all my questions. Surprise - he weighs 51 pounds!!! at 6 1/2 months. Eek - I think he's going to be a big boy. The vet thinks he could lose a little weight, but I think some of it is still loose skin (room for growth). Toby really doesn't eat all that much. Anyway, I will get a call between 3 and 4 when he's all done and waking up well to let me know how he's doing, and we can pick him up tonight. I will be glad when today is over.!

I know! I was told he'd top out around 55 pounds. I think they underestimated.....
I feel your nerves, we had Louie neutered 4 days ago! he is healing beautifully, and despite our best efforts to keep him quiet and rest, he was chasing the cat around the house the minute he got home!, he refuses to keep his ecollar on, but so far he is paying minimal attention to it.
hope it goes as well for you.
Good luck Toby :)
I am actually more concerned with the "down time" after than the surgery, I think. Toby's method of saying "I need to go out" is to jump up at the door. So either we're going to have accidents, or he's going to jump. Hopefully he'll listen to his body.....
We're home - he's incredibly subdued and dozy. His one testicle was in his abdomen, so we have some non-dissolving stitches to come out in 10 days. Poor guy - he just sitting, leaning on a chair, staring into space. It's so sad.
glad to hear he is home - safe and sound - and you survived the day. I know the feeling all too well. Enjoy a glass of wine and a snuggle.
If only I drank alcohol of some type. Now might be a good time to start.....
I don't either - mine addiction is chocolate chip Baskin Robbins! DH & Samantha just took a walk to pick some up since I finished it for dinner.
I can't eat dairy either. My addiction is dark chocolate chips, right from the bag. :)
Good to hear he's back home!!
Congratulations both of you survived :-)
How is Toby doing? Hartley was so funny in the car on the way home from the vets when he had it done, my husband had to sit next to him on the back seat because I was afraid he might fall off! Did they give you something to put on his stitches to stop him licking? We were given a bad tasting cream to use in case he started to fuss, but never needed it.
Hartley was only supposed to be 50-55 pounds and he is 70 pounds at 14 months! He is really lean too, so probably could get a bit heavier. His breeder was horrified at how big he got, he is the biggest puppy she has ever had!! Give Toby a hug from me!
Toby needed me beside him as well - he was, and still is, quite out of it. Poor baby - he detests the cone. We have it off right now because we are right with him. I guess I'll have to put it on overnight, but I don't know how that will go as he sleeps in a crate. He was literally moaning because of the cone, not pain.

We are supposed to keep him on a leash even in the yard. This could be the longest 10 days of my life.
