I am 54, married to Mark for 30 years next week!! Mark and I work together and Suzanne, our eldest, works for us. Marissa & her husband, Seamus, live in Pittsburgh but I am hoping they move back to NJ soon. Mark & I have spent the pst 6 weeks in Miami Beach on a working vacation. We drove down so we could Samantha with us.
Boy, I think this is a great group! All of us with our various life stories. I think you all are are so interesting and how neat to think that our doodles brought us together! This is truly a beautiful thing, thanks to the Internet. Thanks AL - LOL. But seriously, thanks Adrianne!
I need help here, I think I'm still the oldest one here. .It's so bad it would take me another 2 posts to finish my whole "telling about myself" story! Anyone out there over 66??
Have a wonderful day! Some of us will be experiencing a taste of spring weather. Whooohoooo! Only problem, it might be getting time for mat season and Toby's just now getting to his max cute doodley look.
My husband and I are both retired at the age of 63.All of our children are grown and OUT!!! (yes)...we have been trying to sell our home in Baltimore,MD.where we currently live.About 5-6yrs ago we bought some property in Sav.GA.so that when we retired we could down-size and live in a warmer climate. We have only been trying to sell our house for a year 1/2...SOoooo in order to keep our sanity. This is where our Guinness comes' into the picture. We spent our Christmas vac.Jacksonville Fl.last year and picked-up our little Chocolate bundle of joy!! In Greeneville,SC.from a breeder (Mountain Creek Doodles). He is now 4months old and keeps us young and active, which we really need at this time.Every day with him is something different. And thats' my story....
We've reduced the price twice already, and in MD.it seems that they just want us to give it away. It's a big house w/four levels, nice back yard...but no garage. That's why we decided abut getting a dog.We were going to wait until we moved, but we're not getting any younger and we love to go tent camp & RVing. This doodle sure loves the outdoors..
I am 51 and my husband Dave is 57, married 28.5 years. We moved from So. Cal in 84 with our boys Graham (now 28) and Adam (now 26) to Lebanon Oregon for a slower and more affordable life. Dave has always wanted a dog (we tried it twice when the boys were little with no success). Now that the boys are married and on their own, I agreed to try again with a dog but I got to pick which breed. We've had Murphy (F1 female G-doodle) for almost 1.5 years and I can't imagine life without her. She's been so easy to train and such great temperment. Of course the first couple of months of puppyhood were rough (like having a newborn) but well worth the effort. Last December we decided to add to the clan with another Goldendoodle. A male we named Jaxon. Again struggled thru the first couple of months (we're way too old to be getting up every 2 hours!) but Jaxon and Murphy are well on their way to becoming best friends. Our kids tease us about becoming so obsessed with our doodles. I'm glad we waited til we had less responsibilities and more time to be doodle parents.
Welcome Rebekah, My kids tease me a lot about my doodle obsession - if they only knew the true extent, they would commit me! I am having such fun with Ned and this web site. I know what you mean about being "too old" for some of the puppy stuff, but at least with our great age and wisdom, we know it passes all too soon.
Funny, it didn't work out years ago for a puppy to be in your life but now you have2!!! Doodles are different but also WE are different at this time. I have patience that I never had before. Is it the age..... or could it be the drugs - hormones LOL!!!!!
Hi, I am 58 and my DH is 65, we both our retired, somewhat, He is retired from USAFR and St of Delaware. I lost my job about 2 yrs ago, so, we sold our house, sold lots of stuff and packed up and moved to Texas to help my daughter who is in the USAF and had a baby 16 wks premature. The baby is 3 now, and I send her off to special ed school every morning and meet the bus at 2 and keep her until mom comes home. We lost our golden retriever about 3 yrs ago, so we now are settled in DelRio, Texas yes, my daughter is stationed down here. So, my husband wanted a dog, I just could not handle all that hair, so I agreed only if it was a doodle. So first we go GD then 3 mos later we got LD. They are our babies, we love them dearly, they go on walks almost every day, 2 -4 miles. Depends on our time we have. I do have another daughter up in Missouri with 2 boys. We run up there and take the doodles occasionally. Of course my daughters fight over who gets what doodle when we pass on. We have been married for 40 yrs this yr. Yup, I was just a baby when we got married, but he was going to VietNam. We love our doodles!
How did I miss THIS group??? I joined DK just a couple of days ago and am still navigating....seems my premie Alzheimer's disease kicks in and I stay stuck in one discussion/forum/group forever!!! I am going to break the age record by saying I will be 62 in June, DH is 63 and we've been married for 34 years. Always had dogs! Started with Scottish Terriers, then went to Rottweilers and soon a Doodle! I put a deposit down on one, but a week later my daughter informed us of her placenta previa situation. That put Doodle on hold till after new grandson arrives.
Currently, Sadie owns us. She is a rescued long-haired rottie that as of now, is my "once in a lifetime" dog! She is now 9 or 10 and needs to be reminded of our senior citizen status.
We have two kids, one girl married with soon to have second child in August. She lives in Boynton Beach, Fl. My son lives with us in Satellite Beach, Fl and I think he will never get married! He is 30 and I love that he came back to our house. It has been 3 yrs since he moved back in and he is a big help. My husband travels a lot and is not home 1/2 the time. My son is not home the other 1/2. But Sadie is always there with me!
Ihope your daughter is doing okay! Next year when we go back to MB (we were there 6 weeks at our apt at the Fontainebleu - investment apt) we will have a chance to meet and have our furkids play.
Please keep us posted on your daughter.
Oh, it isn't Alzheimers - it is CRAFTS - Can't Remember A F-----g Thing!! I thank my Mom for that one, someone who never used the word damn in her whole life until CRAFTS set in LOL!
