I found a dog park in Coon Rapids, it is fenced, and gated from what I can tell. Is anyone interested? If so, I can go check it out. It is FREE , from dusk til dawn, and is off the beaten path by the looks of it. Looks like a fairly large area too. Here is their website - with a couple of pictures:

It would certainly be nice to get together...

I went and checked it out today - it is pretty big - and totally fenced and double gated. There are some picnic tables there and some benches. Once the ice melts tho it may be messy for a bit, but maybe not.
It would be a fun day i think...

Count us in. Just let us know when. The first two weekends in April are the only dates that won't work for us at this point.
Thanks,
Chris & Fozzy

Hi Sue - I did a search and found 2 motels that are pet friendly up to 60#. Take a look at what I found...

Both of these are fairly close to the park... The Quality Inn is cheaper tho I don't know anything about the motel personally.
There are only 2 responses so far - so 3 of us. I hope to hear from more people.
Our Abby isn't really great at coming to her name either - she's 5 1/2 months old. I wish she were better too. That's why I chose this park, totally fenced and gated. They can't get away from us. LOL
Thanks for looking for me Denise I like the idea of a fence even though I think they would stay together
I take a look at the hotel
We'd be game! Given the weather, though, maybe we should wait a bit until it's not snowing/blowing/raining/muddy.....
So then - let me know when it would work out for everyone. It's looking like May is the soonest then...

I called the cities Park Dept. and they said that we could bring in grills and whatever as long as we clean up - so we could even plan a picnic BBQ and such if anyone was interested. The only thing is there are no bathroom facilities - so I will go check out the area and see where the closest one would be.
Hi Denise,

I know Three Rivers Park District has at least two dog parks that have fenced dog parks. All of the parks have toilets on the grounds - I think. I know most of them have picnic areas. My Fozzy Bear has 10 siblings, a mom and a foster mom that I think would be quite interested in a May Romp!!

Let me know what you find out.
YES aLLIE AND i WOULD LOVE TO GET TOGETHER . jUST NEED A LITTLE NOTICE BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE A LITTLE ROAD TRIP.
Here is a reply from Sheree in an earlier discussion: "yes they so have a off leash park there is also one near St. Michael along the crow river, I like this park the best. I used both parks many times. If you don't have a seaonal pass it's only like $5 a day to use the park....WELL worth it when you travel with your doodles as I do. I visit the cites every month and take the dogs to the St. Michale location each morning, this makes the rest of the day go alot smoother."

I was noticing in the last discussion that people wanted an "on-leash" park.....have you ever had two dogs on a leash when they are playing???? They would be a tangeled mess. I think we should do a fenced park. What does eveyone else think?
I agree, I would want an off leash park so she can run around and play. She is older now and listens better - tho she doesn't come to her name 100%. (that's why I want a fenced area...) Other people have the same problem too with their young dog not always coming when called, so fenced would be best. The Trackside Park IS fenced - and double gated - the only concern is the bathroom facilities.

This is the place I did my looking:

http://www.dogparkusa.com/minnesota/minneapolis-st-paul

According to the above web site, it says the St Michael one is NOT fenced.

Elm Creek is a 29 acre park - is this a park you are familiar with, Chris? (that seems so big to me) I don't see bathroom facilities anywhere close by where the dog area is, according to the map of the park.

Do these dog parks typically have bathroom facilities? I don't know, I've never used one before.

Any help would be appreciated... the web site to the dog parks is above - please all, take a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks
I have never been there, but I know of it. I know there are bathrooms in the park, but you are right, I don't think they are near the dog park. 29 acres is large, but if the pups are together playing, I don't think they'll roam too far.
