Did anyone else have a crabby puppy the day after his shots????
Mine is very crabby, plus it might have to do with switching his food, he very much likes his new food but I can't give it all in one shot I have to phase it out. I am looking forward to lunch time an see if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions???? He is grrrrrrrrrrr at me I put him in a time out this morning. Defintly no rough housing with him today
Well this morning he would not let me snuggle him which he has done in the past few days. We went outside to the "spot" he did this stuff, he came in gave him his food he ate the new not the old. We played and the kept trying to nip me. I put his leash on to give him a walk and he was struggling with me. We went for a walk around the block, a neighbor was out he said HI perfectly Willson didn't want to leave, but the neighbor had to go to work, then walking up the street he just wanted to sit, I picked him up and he was fine went a few houses and then he sat again.
He did finally walk home, but when we got home I let him run he grrrrrrrrr at me We ran in the back yard, thinking he wanted to play he just grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd
Finally he was barking I said "NO" when he was barking, I said come Willson, when we went in the house eh would not let metake his leash off. he started grabbing my hand
I then put him in his kennel for his beharvior. He Whinned When he quited down I took him out of the kennel he was fine. I and my daughter went for our walk he went into his quite spot no problem
We let him out he napped then Now he seems okay I little more wide awake, He had some lunch but didn't finish I am going to leave food out
He didnt eat very much last night
As crazy as his behavior SEEMs...it sounds very much like an energetic normal puppy to me. I wouldn't worry about it or connect it to the vaccines.
Just be calm, consistent...work on some obedience in short bursts using his food or at least before meal time. I would not expect him to come when called reliably at this age...consider all commands as TRAINING not ones he knows.
Wrigley just got her shots today; I'll let you know how she does. The vet said that she may be a little extra tired for a few days. Maybe Willson needs some extra rest?
Shots never seemed to phase Holly, F1B standard Goldendoodle) one way or the other. There was no difference in her attitude or behavior and she has received the full complement of vaccinations.
Unless the pup had some kind of rare, bad reaction...it shouldn't faze most pups. I think poor Sue is experiencing normal, active, energetic, feisty puppy coincidentally AFTER getting vaccinated and nothing more.
