Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am going to my breeder's house tomorrow to meet Lyric, who will hopefully be my second doodle. I will be bringing my Mattie to meet Lyric, who is an 8 month old med. labradoodle, but an Australian, so she is a fluffball compared to my F1. I am so excited! I will keep everyone posted and post pics when i have them!

How fun......................GL :)
The breeder just told me that if things go well when we meet tomorrow, I can TAKE her home tomorrow! Woohoo! Double doodles, here we come!
soo jealous! I can't wait to see your pictures! Have fun!
Can't wait to see the photos! Keep us posted!
Sounds exciting, can't wait to see the pictures!
CONGRATULATIONS! I HOPE LYRIC IS PERFECT FOR YOU AND MATTIE.
Congratulations! That is terrific news!
I have brought Lyric home and she is a bit bigger than i thought--since she is a multigen, she is more of a standard size. She loves to play with Mattie, but she is definitely dominant. She takes all the toys, has claimed the water bowl and growls at Mattie whe Mattie tries to take a drink with her--( Mattie is totally submissive with all of this and just backs off) My husband is not happy, he loves Mattie so much he doesn't think it is a good idea to bring in this bigger dog who will push Mattie around. I have the same sinking feeling--it is not a good match. She plays with her teeth alot--very mouthy and Mattie let out a yelp today when I let them have a bit of a play.
Those of you with two doodles--does this sound right? I have heard you should just let them work it out, but I don't think this is a thing that will change over time.
I had a similar situation when I brought in the second dood. He was imposing his dominance and the first couple of weeks was crazy. But as you said, things did work themselves out over time. It only took me staying on top of it and not allowing him to be too rough with Ginger and it just took her one time to put him in his place and it was over. I made sure I showed them seperate bowls, beds and toys and said their name to it. The order of the pack changes from time to time but levels itself out. Give it 2 weeks...that's the magic time and they should work it out. It may take two females a bit more time but they will work it out. You have to be the pack leader and step in so they look to you as leader. Shout if you need help, we are here and there for you. Rescue can be hard at first but rewarding in the end.
My two doodles show teeth and growl at each other, but they are totally devoted to one another. You can see them in action on the video clip on my page called Bone Brawl. I don't know a lot about pack order, but I know that my two do nip, play, growl, steal from one another, but love each other completely.
Thanks to both of you--that is very helpful. The doodle next door is so mellow that she amd Mattie never have issues, so this is new to me. Two weeks it is!
Hey, I'm not saying it will be easy, just keep with it. There were a few days when I truly didn't think it was going to work out. But it did and now we're at 2 years. You be the Pack Leader.
