My 4 month old puppy's front leg ( especially the right) shakes. I would describe it best as being similar to a nervous twitch or a palsy shake. I notice it when he is sitting. Is it just because Doodles have a silly way of sitting because their front legs are longer than the rear legs? Does anyone else notice this in their doodle? Enclosed is a picture of his typical sitting stance.

I've never noticed this with Max but, I had to say your puppy is really too cute!

Did you ever notice the background of your pictures bring out things you really don't see when you are spending sooooo much time playing with the puppy. This carpet is filthy. Oh well,.my rug SHEDS NOT MY DOG. LOL
THANK YOU! This would make sense. He is extremely wobbly and hysterically clumsy. I was so afraid to ask my vet for fear he would begin a battery of tests. One, that would cost lots of $$$$$$$$ and two, I would be crushed if he were sick. I just wished I would have asked sooner but I was afraid to know the answer. This place is great.
I took my first doodle into the vet at age four months because I thought the insides of his eyelids were too red! Mind you, I have had dogs since I was little and raised quite a few puppies during my forty years of marriage. I was just so nervous about my beloved doodle! My vet was very kind to me, did not laugh, at least while I was there. I am sure it made a good story later! He did not even charge me an office visit. The moral of the story is - don't be afraid of looking silly - most vets are quite used to anxious puppy moms and dads and good ones won't do tests unless they think they are necessary.
My pup never did this but I read something about it in an earlier discussion. Your pup is too cute - looks just like a stuffed toy.
yes! Kensi' legs does this alot. She is 8months old now and it still happens. I am so glad to hear that some other people's pups do it too. I thought it was just Kensi.
Add Samantha to the 'yes' list. She still does it at 13 months but not as much.
Both of mine did this when they were younger. It did go away.

Edgar's legs also do this. He can be quite clumsy at times as well.
That is exactly what is happening with Fozzy Bear. And I thought the exact same thing. "It was just the way he was sitting", he sits just like your Dood. I noticed for the first time this a.m. that it was happening when he was laying down. It scared me so I called my vet. I haven't hear back yet. Yes, and I am sure it will mean a large vet bill. But I guess I would rather be safe than sorry, I haven't noticed anyone else experiencing this when their dog was laying down. And it is always the left leg.....
HI Chris, Just curious as to what your vet had to say about the shakes. Since the time of this posting ( about a month ago) I have only seen him shake a few more times. I was told both on here and this was confirmed by my vet not to worry.. It may be possible that he was a young puppy still to develop finer muscle tone and control.
I can make wild assumptions and excuses that these shakes have almost gone away-- for example, Spud has a lot more exercise now that it is warmer and we get out to get more to play, or he is getting older So what did your vet say? Thanks.
Sorry for being so late in my reply. I spoke with the vet the other day, and she said as long as I don't see any other symptoms such as weakness in that leg, favoring the leg, limping, nipping at the leg, listlessness, etc. not to worry at all. Most likely, it is just a twitch. With Fozzy, it is something I see maybe once every week or two. So, I am not worried at all. It sounds pretty common.
