So last weekend, I took Bear to get groomed. We have been going to Petsmart for the past year and have never had any issues. Well this time I did..........the lady who groomed him......completely shaving him down....even his ears. On top of that.......she shaved his ears!!!!!! I was fuming, but did not really say anything at that time. When I got in the car, I immediately called a manager there.
I am just really upset and going to take him somewhere else next time. But it is going to take time for his hair to grow back. Thanks for listening :)
I am so sorry to hear that :( Not that I am sticking up for Banfield by you, but with my one poodle.....he went into anaphylactic (sp?) shock when he recieved the DHLP shot when he was a puppy. And we almost lost him too, but the vet we took him to immediately called the pet ER and we took him there. He really did not know what to do and told us to go there. He ended up being on steroids for 1 year, but turned out fine. Afterwards, he would receive Benadryl to counteract any type of allergic reaction.
The Banfield here does give Bear Benadryl before he receives any type of vaccination. I think that is because it is included in the insurance I had bought through them.....which has saved me alot of money.
Again, I am not trying to stick up for the Banfield over by you because that is no excuse for not taking care of the dogs while they are there........and I am truly sorry to hear about your friend's dog. Was she able to file a complaint or charges against that Petsmart? I would definitely tell them to look into that.
He looks very handsome. I understand how you feel though. The same thing happened to Max. He was all shaggy and then wham - shaved down. It's very shocking and took me some time to adjust. He looked so skinny, I thought that people must think I don't feed the little fella. Poor thing!
I think I read somewhere on DK that someone's dog was injured at Petsmart groomer, and was not informed about it, until she noticed him/her limping and called them to ask if there were any accident while the dog was there.
That discussion talked about their grooming tables are very slippery, some dogs are falling and getting hurt...
I wish I can find that discussion.... Did anyone read that?
What do you all think about this cut? I actually trimmed up his tail, so it does not look like that anymore....Thank GOODNESS :) But he is still very uneven........I will slowly trim to make him more even.

I am so happy that I have a great groomer. She is privately owned. I would attach pic of Sam after his groom, but this is not my computer. Otherwise check him out on my page and look at the latest pics. He looks fluffy after a groom, but goes back to his wacky, wavy with curls on his legs after a day. No she does not trim the lower legs, that is just the way he is. Rounds out the feet, neatens the face, always leaves his eyebrow, just neatens them. Trims his chin hair per my request, as he just drips water all over if I let it get long. He also has long eyelashes that have never been trimmed. Wow your story is so sad. I would have been furious and made them refund the money too or given me a free groom with a good groomer.
I hope if you paid for this, you asked for your money back. I think I would take some time and stand out front and make sure anyone going into the store with a dog to be groomed saw Bear. Hopefully, they will lose some business. I can't believe that even Bear's ears needed to be shaved - this had to be done by someone who didn't know what doodles are supposed to look like.
