We've discovered that there is a definite correlation between the amount of exercise and attention Nico gets and the amount of mischief he managed to 'find'. The more we walk him and play outdoors with him, the less he seems interested in swiping socks, chewing paper napkins or chomping on pencils. Of course...the converse is true. If he goes even a day without three good exercise sessions...LOOK OUT! We're in for a day of Nico snatching!
Others experiencing the same?
If I play ball with Samantha when we get home from work (she comes to work with me) I have a better shot of her allowing me to have a quiet, relaxing evening with her snuggling on the sofa with me. If I don't Samantha will start to get annoying about playing ball or tug or whatever toy she decides that WE want to play with and doesn't let up until I give in, which of course I do with a giggle. She has me wrapped around her little (not so little) paw! LOL
Max is pretty much the same. He doesn't get into mischief such as finding and chewing things but, he'll bounce off walls and decide he doesn't want to go out to potty or eat..or..or..or.... anything he just doesn't feel like. :)
Swiping is a daily activity in our house! Even when they are exercised and tired, a little nap is all that is needed for enough energy to steal our napkins or run around with stolen socks :) I swear they have a hidden stash of my socks somewhere, I do try to keep them all put away!!!
As Cesar Milan says over and over - a dog needs 1 - Exercise, 2 - discipline, 3 - affection. Exercise being first on the list!! He is so right. The other two just fall into place after Exercise.
