Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

The other day I made a post about Cirrus having to be shaved, due to major mats. I promised a pic to follow. Here it is. I am afraid I dont know how to make the pictures appear small. But if it is to big I added it to my page. He looks quite absurd with skinny body and long hair on face and tail.

Just so you don't think my groomer is inept. Nimbus got groomed the same day. His came out great.

WOW, Nimbus is UNBELIEVABLE. I absolutely LOVE his colouring. His leggies have stripes, yet he has dots of black and white on his body, but his head and tail are black. How old is he? Our dog Thomas is a ginger colour but getting lighter spots on him and his first grooming at 4 mths old looked alot like this. They just kind of evened him out everywhere. Again-your dog is nothing but spectacular looking. I just saved his picture so If it is alright with you-I can send it to some of my friends.
Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the lovely complement.
Nimbus will be four years old next month. He is definitely a head turner. My previous two dogs, before I got Nimbus were dalmatians. I was devastated at the loss of my Sparky, when I started researching getting a labradoodle. When I found that they could be had in black and white (called parti colored)...well...I had to have one. Besides being beautiful he is the smartest dog I have ever had. When I saw Cirrus' litter I had never seen apricot and white parti's and I fell in love again. They were all gone before I made a move... Then the breeder had saved Cirrus to be a stud...but had to part with him because he had an undescended testicle..it was just meant to be. They are a stunning and wonderful pair!
Sorry to go on...like all of us I love my doodles!

LMAO!
Remember this thread from six weeks ago! It created quite a sensation seeing poor Cirrus...I don't believe I have ever had quite so many responses to anything I posted. A doodle owners nightmare haircut.
Anyway, six weeks later not so bad (New picture enclosed).

I wondered from your first photo how his body hair would catch up to the puffy head-but he is growing in beautifully and his hair looks totally proportioned all over from your latest photo. Again, your dogs are sooo handsome!
Cirrus has beautiful markings! This haircut reminds me of my Ellie's first haircut! It took my breath away when I saw her! The next day, I took her back to the groomer and had the hair on her head cut shorter. The groomer made her head look more proportioned to her body. I stayed there while she did it. It wasn't perfect, but the bobblehead look was less noticeable. It is hard to find a groomer that knows how and has the patience to cut doodles. I found one great groomer, she left the profession, and now am at square one again! Cirrus is precious no matter what length his hair is.

Look at Nimbus' picture at the bottom of this thread. Our groomer did a great job on him. My husband told him not to cut his face and tail. He was worried it would be to short. Maybe we should have his face trimmed a little so it is more proportional.
Nimbus looks adorable! Those dreaded matts on doodles can cause a lot of problems!! Our younger doodle (19 months) matts very easily. Oliver matts on his legs, under the legs, and around the ears. The groomer had to cut him short but left his face just the right length. He had a haircut one week ago and since then we have brushed him every single day with a Les Pooches brush. The Les Pooches brush seems to be able to get rid of the matts without hurting Oliver. This routine seems to be working for us! Both of your dogs are extremely cute! Kathy (Ellie & Oliver)
Did the groomer give you advise on how to keeps the mats away. My 8 month old goldendoodle is having a serious matting problem. I worked hours on him today. I am afraid that he may have to be shaved too. I try hard to keep him brushed. It seems like over night this happened.
