Mariner just had a seizure - he was outside - the other two - Boomer and Shayna - had just come in. Shayna started barking and going to the door. Mariner was having a seizure by the front door.
Right now he is starting to come out of it. He was confused - walking around not knowing where he was - bumping into things.
He is eating breakfast and hopefully will start to settle.
I hope he comes through it ok. I haven't seen a post about a seizure for awhile, so does that mean this is his first seizure in a long time? Doodle hugs from me and Halas.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear this. I know how much it worries you & Sharon. It does seem like it's been awhile since you posted about a seizure, Andy. I wonder if the change in seasons has anything to do with it?
Jackdoodle & I send a big hug to Mariner, also, and hope he will have a peaceful day. You too.
Samantha & I are sending send you ALL hugs. We know when one of the kids deosn't feel well it effects everyone. We hope that things settle down to a quiet day.
In the last few weeks he has had a couple of seizures and about 3 moths ago we adjusted his medication and we were hoping that it was enough of a boost to stop the seizure activity. I spoke to the vet and he feels that we didn't up the medication enough so we are increasing it again. He is on the the low end of the recommended dosage even with the increase. So hopefully that will work. The vet wants to keep the seizures to less than 2 a year.
We have learned how to deal with this both the physical aspects and the emotional.
Hi Andy, Sorry to hear this. Its stressful for all involved. Has your vet suggested a way to stop the seizure immediately? You can carry a syringe & rubber tube so as soon as the seizure begins, you can insert the rubber tube into the rectum & inject he meds. It stops the seizure immediately. PUppy love from Joy & furry folk
Joy - I discussed tis with the vet today. He felt that it would be difficult or us to do and that by the time you got everything ready and were able to administer the medication it would be over. His seizures are relatively short and he is not having multiple seizures. Thank you for the advice - I had thought about it also.
Poor Mariner. Sorry to hear he had a seizure. We had a golden years ago that had seizures. He was put on meds. and with one or two adjustments, he was great after. He never had another one. It was scary though until we got it worked out. Good luck. Hope he's feeling better.
Oh...Mariner, Hugs and Doodle Kisses from Jordan and I.
It has been a while since you posted about the Doodle Bug. Its so hard to find the right combo of meds in a human let a lone a dog. You and Sharon are such amazing Doodle parents. Kudos to Shayna for alerting you to Mariner she get a Doodle Hug and Kiss also!
