I notice that there are lots of discussions about shedding puppies and dogs. My little Kendall has been shedding for about 2 weeks. She is 15 weeks now. When do they shed puppy fur?
We are finding clumps of fur everywhere. We are used to our yellow lab, though, who sheds hairs all the time. I much prefer the clumping fur. Will this continue or is it seasonal, or puppy stuff?
Thanks.
Very possible she'll shed. You really can't predict with F1's. Some F1's that LOOK like shedders don't. Others that look non-shed DO. She's a cutie either way!
She sure is! I'll have to update her pic this week. She has the cute "shaggy dog" look now. Even if she is a shedder - I'd rather see the clumps that can be cleaned up than the little hairs all over everything.
What do shedders LOOK like? When do F1's usually start to shed if they are going to? Just wondering since my 16 week GD hasn't shed a hair yet. Even very little comes off with brushing.
Thanks for your input Adina.
I guess what I mean is that TYPICALLY people think of "curly" to be non-shedding and 'straight' to be shedding. Rosco is curly but sheds plenty. Adrianne Matzkin's Samantha is not curly yet does not shed.
I have two f1 goldendoodles....Comiskey started "blowing her puppy coat" at 14 weeks....once that was all gone...she no longer sheds (I will see an occasional hair or when I brush her, I get hair coming out)....Beemer is 13 weeks and he has begun to blow his puppy coat.....his hair is long and very fluffy...so I expect to see a lot more shedding until he gets his adult coat....no expert here....just observation....
There's no set time, but after a year generally. However, if your doodle sheds heavily, it probably will always shed. Both my F1 labradoodles shed and they always have (they are 3 and 4 years old). The one I had since puppyhood shed from day 1 and continues to. Typically (though there are exceptions) the non-shedding doodles don't shed ever.
