Rusty learned to shake yesterday!! It took about 10minutes and now we're in for a lifetime of shaking joy! He's already showed off to Grandma and Grandpa.. LOL.. Of course, now he's started the pawing for attention (which is not unusual after teaching trick). I am ignoring the behavior so I don't reinforce it and have a dog that paws at me the rest of my life. LOL
Mirage, my service dog puppy. Mirage is my 18 month old Giant Schnoodle of Joy. I've been sick a lot since her birth & I have 3 other dogs plus rescues so she hasn't had the good consistent training that my service dogs usually get. The other day, I put a balance harness on her for the first time. She wore it like a champ. I took her to the bank. I balanced on her & she braced in perfect position focusing on my position & adjusting herself to balance me. She did a full downstay without breaking for about 20 minutes while I did my banking business. She dropped on command, stood on command helped me balance on command. She carries my purse which is a dog pack on her back. To get into my pack, I say tuck & she moves into position so I can open the zipper & get my stuff. She tucked on command & stayed while I did my purse stuff. She focused & seemed to be saying "I'm standing by for orders mom!" I am so proud of her. I never thought she would be such a good service dog with so little training. She's my youngest dog & I always think of her as a puppy. But now I'm proud of my Mirage the service dog. Puppy love from Joy & furry folk
Lucy has learned to "gimme 10"! It took a bit.. she got it very quickly as long as I was sitting but when I stood she'd just look at me. So, over about 3 days she finally has got it down. I went from sitting on the floor, to sitting on the couch, to sitting on the arm of the couch to finally standing up!! I hold up my hands and say "gimme 10" and she goes up on her back legs and briefly puts her paws on my hands.. very fun! Yeah LUCY!
Yay!
Charlie learned to do "Please" today. This is the "beg" from "101 dog trick" book. I just didn't want to use the word "beg", so I used the word "please" instead.
How is it going? When ever Penny says her prayers, it's pretty obvious that she's just trying to get a treat out of my hand. Afterwards, I have her go to bed - lie down on her side. We then say Wake Up now and she pops up. That trick is always widely received when we visit at Assisted Living facilities.
