Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So over the last few weeks I have been sharing such things with our new doodle families. It occurred to me it might be nice, and fun for all of you to help create the list from your experience. I would love for you to share your must have's and must do's.

Some of the things we can't live without are - fillable kong toys, Nature's Miracle Odor and Stain Remover ( just go ahead and get the largest size! ), flea & tick & heartworm meds on line are much cheaper than at the vet, a doggie tote bag kept packed with essentials such as poop bags, treats, wipes, water bottle, large towel.
....nice list Susan, I might add ... cowboy magic (for those tangles), good brush/comb, round nosed scissors (for cutting mats open without a sharp poke, ouch), Spot Shot (great for stain removal, of course, only at the beginning :o) ) litter blankie, good food and lots of hugs and kisses.
Follow this link to goldendoodle.com for a very thorough checklist http://www.goldendoodles.com/care/newpuppy.htm, I was going to type one of my own but why reinvent the wheel? Additionally you can now add this site to your list of favorites as an additional resource ~ of course while you are visiting if you happen to be inclined to add anything about your ** breeder ** we would be most grateful so that others can hear of your experiences.

More to come.
Our dogs also seem to like the 'wubbas', heavy duty fabric covered kong toys. The pups love the hanging fabric to play tug of war with, shake around and have hit their face and best of all Ella who can destuff, decapitate and find the treasured squeaker in less than 60 seconds has yet to be able tear this fabric = ) GREAT prices here:

Thanks for all the great info!

After reading through the old posts, I think we're going to bite the bullet and buy one of the les poochs brushes. Any thoughts on the best one to get?
I would honestly hold off on that purchase right now. Since you really do not know what coat type you will have yet it would be difficult to make an optimal selection. I have also found the real need for this comes as the puppy grows older and begins to have the adult coat come in.

Did Andrea tell you she felt the puppies move the other day? Poor little Joy is now appearing to gain by the hour, she looks like she ate a watermelon for dinner last night!
Dianne, Great advice - I didn't even think of that!

That's too cute about feeling the pups! Poor Joy - I remember those last days of pregnancy :)

Would you mind posting a pic - I'd love to have one for our puppy photo album!
CAPTURE is a dry cleaning type solvent for removing pet stains from those types of rugs that must be professionally cleaned. Poor Kodi had a terrible poop explosion on my very special rug (he was super sick or he would NEVER have done it) and I was getting quotes for $350 to clean!!!! The nice man where I bought the rug told me about this product and saved me a bundle!

Also, went on ebay where I purchased thousands of disposable bags for poop pick up. And LOVE the Easy Walk Harness. But if I don't take it off after the walk it gets chewed to pieces. About $20 but changed our life.
stridex alcohol free medicated pads ~ hands down the absolute best ear cleaner (easy & thorough) ever!
