Ok so here's the thing Murphy is always excited when anybody comes home, he used to just grab the nearest toy and walk around with it in his mouth. But now he not only grabs a toy he likes to talk as well=) He is so funny you can't help but to laugh. In the last 2 week's he started to howl when I pull in the driveway, that really surprised me!!! Now he isn't doing this everyday but every now & then, and for some reason only when I pull in. He will be turning 2 real soon! What about your doodles?
Hannah never use to bark till she was around Barb's dog Dunkin, now once she gets going outside you can't shut her up. I don't want to use a barking collar on her, but she is starting to leave me no choice. I can stand right in front of her and tell her to stop barking or stop and she won't. My sister has Golden Retrievers and they love to carry something in their mouth all the time, kinda their job as Retrievers, and they make this whinning noise when they come home or someone comes to visit. It beats the barking!!! Any suggestions to stop the barking....
Now that I would love to know Murphy is barking a lot around the house when he hears something outside, or a loud car that goes by. Then Emmet likes to join in=)
Have you tried holding her mouth closed and tell her "NO BARK"? I had cockers who used to sit outside and bark - I couldn't leave them out for long because I didn't want the neighbors to get mad. Our yard is 2 acres, but it's amazing how far that bark carries...
Oh so cute - Abby does the same thing - walks around the house with something in her mouth making noises - sounds like moaning to me. I love it. I just keep coaxing her along by talking to her - her tail is a waggin' as she is prancing around.
As far as barking? Our doorbell bell is upstairs in the living room - and Abby stays on the main level most of the time. When a doorbell rings on the TV - she makes a mad dash to the door barking up a storm. It's so funny. (but she is only doing her job!!) How is she suppose to differentiate between the doorbell and the TV?
We have a park across the street and this spring she was barking at every kid who went over there but I think she has finally figured out that the park isn't her responsibility to protect. She heard enough "SHHH" and "no bark" that all she does now is sit and watch them. (and sometimes moans!) I have never heard her howl tho, but she is just still a pup.
Cali barks everytime the doorbell rings or even someone comes through the door. She is are own welcoming committee, and she probably thinks she is protecting us and is doing her job. It can get quite maddening however since we have two teen age daughters with friends coming over quite a bit. My daughter went to promthis past weekend and asked to stay out until 1 or 2 which we didnt have a problem with since it was a special night, we knew however that Cali would let everyone know exactly what time my daughter made it home and she did...
Wilson is 10 l/2 months old almost 11 months and will be a year old on June 6th. Well he makes noises he burps!! Yep right in your face sometimes and then he also lets out a huge sigh it is funny all you can do is laugh!! which we do
I dont mind the bark if someone is at the door or she really has a reason to bark, but she gets every dog in the neighborhood going outside. If she hears another dog and they stop barking, she will be the one to continue on. There just are times when no other dog is barking or a reason for her to keep barking and she does. I can tell her to Stop barking, NO, No barking, and she will continue on. She normally is a very very good dog, but just can't get her to quit with the barking, and to think I couldnt wait to hear her bark when she was a pup....lol.
Yes indeed! Cayenne is getting more vocal the older she gets. She will sometimes 'talk' to visitors or people we pass by on the street. She seems to be saying, "Hey come play with me."
She doesn't bark much, occasionally at the neighbors or at someone passing by on the sidewalk.
Hi,
My Coco "talks"!!! Started a little earlier I think...she is 3. She does this kind of growly thing, generally with a toy in her mouth also. She also does this "talk" that looks like a yawn, a VERY BIG one!, and she makes kind of a yowl sound. Wish you could here...it is the cutest thing. My daughter has a black lab, Karma and she "talks" the same way. My other little "angel" Sabrina does not talk. Once in a while I can coax a little "word" out, but does not do it generally just on her own. On the other hand, she loves "speak"! She will "speak" one bark for treats, which may be just a snuggle! For the life of me I can not get Coco to "bark speak"...guess it is just different personalities! Can't be just the "mix" part, because if it was from the Lab side it should be the other way around in our house...Coco is F1 and Bri is back one on the Lab side. She is 3/4 Lab...go figure!! Have a great day!
