I hav successfully changed my theme! That only took 10 or so trys to do the basic stuff. Then I added pictures on only the third try. I am trying somewhat unsuccessfully to add music. This gives you a basic picture of my tech savy.. I would really like to learn "glittering" and icons to my messages - but I am really stuck . Please try to not use terms like HTML or URL or similar as I do not know what they mean. Thanks.
Thanks again for asking your question in the forum!
First, you take the HTML and mix it with the URL to get a ... just kidding...
Members get their glittery images from other websites like glitterfly. If you see a glittery image someone put on DK there is usually a link at the bottom that you can click on to go to the site where it was made ... and make your own there. I sometimes do a google search for "Happy Birthday Glitter" or "Happy Birthday Clip Art" or Happy Birthday GIF" and get a list of sites that have free ones.
So at any of those sites, whether the images are ready to go or you help 'create' them...once you have an image you copy the code they give you and paste it into your message on DK and voila!
Now because DK has a policy of "NO member (technologically) left behind!" I will explain those two scary terms for you right here:
HTML -- HyperText Markup Language. A language for describing the contents and appearance of pages on the web. HTML codes are interpreted by the web browser to make things look the way they do. So actually that code that you copy and paste for a glitter image is HTML. Your web browser reads it and turns it into a glittery image!
URL -- Uniform Resource Locator: essentially it is the address of a web page or site. So the URL for DK is www.DoodleKisses.com -- for any page on DK that you're on, just look at the top of your browser and whatever you see listed that starts with http:// is the URL for that page.
If you click on "Videos" at up top, and put in "Tutorial", it will take you to the tutorial page that tells you how to do things on your page... Also you can go to google image or something like that, save the pictures on your file, and up load from there to use for top part, sides and background as well.
