My new (unclipped) doodle pants very heavily (and easily) when the temperature goes up---even to the low 70's. Should I be concerned?
She has a thick wool undercoat and I'm hoping a clip will fix the situation. I'm wondering about other doodles and how easily/heavily they typically pant.
She also seems to pant a long time after exercise. Any thoughts?
Thanks

My Buddy pants a lot, even when it is only in the 70's if he is in the sun. He is my shade finder and does not tolerate the heat very well. He also pants a long time after exercise in the heat as he rests. I think it just depends on the dog, even though Kona is darker, she doesn't seem to mind the heat as much.
Marlow does the same thing. I find it interesting, since my dalmatian goes out t "suntan" as we call it several times a day, but Marlow stays in the shade. I guess I would too with that fur!
Our Doodle Megan runs like the wind for a little while then pants heavily. Her coat is clipped but she still pants. I think its just typical.
Notcha pants pretty hard when it is above 70, even if she has just been laying around. I try to keep her fairly short haired also
