Yes, he could shed with the "blowing" of his puppy coat. This is the ONLY time Giada ever shed...I would find little hair balls around the house. Make sure you brush often, or he'll be more apt to get matts with this coat change.
Thanks I actually brushed him twice today once this morning and just a little while ago he was laying by our pine tree and got some yucky sap on him, He doesn't mind the brushing I was just very shocked to see the hair in the brush. So the "blowing" means he is losing puppy hair and going to get his curly hair???
Yes, Giada has much curlier hair than she did when she came home with us, which makes me believe her puppy coat is gone.
We do get puppy fuzz in Wrigley's brush after a brushing, but no real shedding of hair as we pet her and even if we pull on her hair, none comes out.
At what time does a Goldendoodle "blow" the puppy coat? Holly will be eight months old on August 25 and she has not, as yet, "blown" coat. Of course, we keep her clipped short because she is in the pool with us at least once daily.

We love how quickly a Doodle coat dries because of no undercoat.
that's exactly what I was wondering...I don't want P's coat to change, and I love the way it is right now!

Paddington has shed little tuffs of hair, but I rarely see these anymore...so I'm wondering if he already "shed" that puppy coat...
You know I don't really know......I could be wrong, but I do believe Giada's puppy coat is gone! She is 7 months old. She does not shed at all, only the little tuffs of hair a few months ago, but nothing in a long time.
Scrappy is 1 and 1/2 yrs and she didn't start shedding/matting until close to a year. Her adult coat didn't come in until around that time. Even then, the shedding wasn't flying around fur, just what I got off the brush, really. I still need to keep up on the brushing or she'll mat (even with a shorter coat) and what I get now, is that softer, fuzzy stuff, not really her fur. (which I always assumed is what causes the matting) I consider her non shedding though.

Grover, on the other hand, he's 16 weeks on Thursday and he's been shedding since day one. A good amount of fur flying when petting, etc. I'm not thinking it's a puppy coat thing because he's so young. Nothing major, but I'm assuming he's going to be a shedder. His coat is very different from Scrappy's....she's sheep-like, he's straighter and Golden Retriever-like.

The worst part is that he's terrified of the brush or comb! We're working on that as I speak. I've tried just about everything to make the brush seem "friendly", even adding treats to the pins. Nothing. When I brush Scrappy, he cowers by his stuffed gorilla, as though I'm torturing her. I must go through pounds of treats to make it seems like a great time for both doodles.........oh, well....:(
Here's a suggestion:
1) Start with a BRAND NEW brush/comb--one he has no experience with.
2) Bring it out...wave it around so he can see it...give him a treat and put the brush away.
3) Do #2 a few times a day for several days until he looks HAPPY to see the brush...you'll know you've formed an association in his mind that means "I see the brush...I get treats!" Use treats he adores.
4) Once he gets happy to see the brush see if he'll come close to the brush to sniff it. Maybe put treats on it at that point...then once he's solid on that...then
5) See if you can get it CLOSE to his body without him being frightened...give him treats for it. NO brushing...just close to his body
6) See if you can touch the BACK of the brush to his back, and diff parts of his body...saving the tougher more resistant parts for later...give him treats for every accepted light touch.
7) See if you can "brush" him lightly with the back of the brush...give him treats for accepting it. Just a couple strokes.
8) Try touching with the pins...treat for every accepted touch.
9) give a short light brush through his coat...treats for every stroke.

Always keep these sessions short and light and full of treats and stop and backtrack if he starts to get nervous. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the tips!
I do have a new brush, so on to number 2!
Actually, I got him to get close to the brush last night. How exciting! I praised him so much you'd think he did stood on his head. I know it's a big deal for him though.
Thanks so much, I'll keep you posted! Good thing his fur is growing slowly, appears I have plenty of time to work with him ;)

I was curious of this myself. My doodles are F3, but my older female is VERY curly - she has never shed. Only when she needs groomed I will find little clumps of hair, but if you actually pull at her coat - NOTHING. Now my 2nd F3 has a different coat. He doesn't shed, but I do get hair in the brush. He is not 4 mos old yet so I'm sure things will change. I hope what Tamara says is true of my Ozzie.
