Hi,

Would like to teach nine month old Finn to swim, but can't find a place where dogs are allowed, is not too crowded, and water isn't too swift. Any suggestions for Portland/Beaverton area?? Hagg lake is a mud fest, so don't really want to do that either unless you know of a secret spot. thanks!

I heard there is swimming at dog park near Marylhurst. I haven't been there, but maybe you can check it out.
We take Oski swimming in the Sandy river at Lewis and Clark state park off of I-84. In the spring, the current is a bit faster due to the increased flow from snowfield runoff but during the summer it's a fairly wide & lazy river. Jason even goes walking in the river & Oski paddles around him like a furry tug boat :)

Here's some more info & directions on it:

Hi,
I hear that there is a great spot at the Mary S. Young Park in West Linn. Stanley often goes to the dog park there, but has yet to be introduced to the watering hole... unless you count the mud puddles he magically finds. We may try swimming this weekend. Kristy
cool, we'll check it out. Are you coming to the doodle romp Saturday?? Chari
Yup, I think so. Stanley had his first experience with "watching" swimming today. We have a pool and our son and friends finally got in and swam. Stanley got all worked up, not sure what to do. Trying to keep him out of the pool for as long as possible. May get him his own plastic pool. We may go to the romp and then head to the watering hole in West Linn to cool off. See you and Finn soon!
