Does anyone have any idea how big my little girl will get? She turned five months old today and is 30 pounds. What is the average growth rate at this age?
I'm guessing she probably won't gain more than another 15 pounds total. For standard size doodles...doubling the 4 month weight plus 5-10 lbs usually works. But smaller dogs usually don't grow quite as big. There's a current running discussion on sizes in the Puppy Madness group also might check the Medium/mini doodles group too =)
Our Toby was 22 pounds at 4 months, 35 pounds at 8 months , and at 15 months is 37 pounds. So the formula didn't really apply to him. He seems to be light weight, eating about 2 cups of food a day.
Well I think Penny is a perfect size. Great I am thrilled your made a comparison for her. I never see him grow, and I often wonder if he will be a medium. Then all of the sudden he shoots straight up. We can only hope he takes after Beautiful Penny
I too am interested in the height and size of Harley. He's 6 months old, weighs about 33 lbs and stands approx.20 inches tall (his back). I took him to the vet last week and she told me he wouldn't get much bigger. His feet are HUGE, and his parents were between 50-60lbs, so I am confused. Does the growth spurt still occur after 6 months? Grateful to all for advice since this is my first doodle and my first dog, and I thought he would get a bit taller....
There is definitely some growth after 6 months...there might be some after a year. But overall weight probably doesn't change dramatically from now till his final weight. For example (and I know this is just ONE dog) Rosco was 60 lbs at 6 months and his final weight is between 80-85 lbs. So at 6 months he was already 70-75% done growing in weight. So yours 'might' reach 50 lbs but I doubt he'd be bigger than that. My Rosco is about 1/2 shorter than his poodle dad.
Thanksso much for your response. It doesn't REALLY matter, but I couldn't imagine a dog fully grown at 6 months old. It seemed odd to me. A few inches taller and a few more lbs is fime with me....
