Met my first "doodle hater"

I went to see a Flyball Compition today (without Molly) and I saw a woman with a beautiful black, shaggy dog. I stopped her to ask what kind of dog he was and she told me he was a Bovier. My 7 year old daughter said, "He kind of looks like a Goldendoodle!" The owner then went on to say how "people who buy Goldendoodles" fall into the marketing ploy and spend a ridiculous amount of money on an overpriced mutt, when they could of just gotten a Bovier, which is a "real breed." I was sooo mad, but I am not one to provoke an argument, especially around my children. I did tell her we had a Goldendoodle and were very happy with her. She said, "Oh, that's fine--as long as you didn't spend too much on her." Then she went on to say I had to watch out for things like hip dysplashia and other shared genetic "defects." My husband and I just turned and walked away. My daughter was so confused as to why that woman was so rude. I explaned that some people just don't believe in intentionally breeding mixed breeds.

So I guess I have been broken in...I finally met an anti-doodle snob. LOL Just thought I'd share.

OMG! You should have simply said "on the top 10 smartest breeds list Poodle is #2, Goldend#4....thought my odds were pretty good of getting an intelligent, great temperament dog, and hybrids tend to outlive purebreds. Also where in the intelligence list do the Bouv's fall?" lol

Last month, I went to the neighborhood small pet store I often purchased stuff from. This time, the purpose of my visit was to ask if they would donate any items or gift card for raffle basket for the Doodle Romp to raise fund.
When I went on to explain about IDOG, the owner just went on and on about how wrong it is to mix breed, and they were nothing but a mutt, etc..... I was shocked, hurt and sppechless! He could have just said "No thanks" Especially when I am the frequent customer! I am never going there ever again!!

What a smart businessman that is! I think you should post which store it is so no one in your area goes there. I know I wouldn't! I should spend my hard earned money in a store that insults my kids???

The guy is a doodle hater! They have a grooming salon, too. But I bet you they will shave our precious doodles!! >>:-(

next time smile and say, "gee, ya just coulda just said no thanks, and to think, I never realized you felt this way about mixed breed dogs, and after I have spent so much money here, gee what a shame" then smile and walk away.

Does anyone know what 'purebred' started as a 'prebred'? I thought all breeds originated by the mixing of breeds. Don't these snobs know the origins of their breeds?

Because I got so ticked off by Ms. I Have a Purebred, I googled Bouvier and checked the origins of the breed. This is what I came up with in just a couple of minutes. Even the experts don't know the exact orgins of the breed!

'There is no real agreement concerning the origin of this Franco-Belgian breed. It may have been formed by crossing the Griffon and the Beauceron.'

/The Bouvier was created by breeding imports such as Irish wolfhounds with local farm dogs, until a breed considered to be the predecessor of the modern Bouvier was obtained.'

At the dog park today, a guy asked me if Yankee was a goldendoodle. When I said yes, he said well my dog is just a mutt and he's not expensive like that breed. I told him that goldendoodles were not a breed but my dog was worth every penny I paid for him.
