Hi Doodle lovers
I am relatively new here still but this has been such a nice space... Thought I would share.
If you have a story about your family life with your doodle that made you realize how significant he/she has been to your family please share....
I have a business meeting out of state tomorrow So I had to board my goldendoodle, Chili Pepper this morning. He is at his favorite place the Doggie Daycare he has gone to since he was 6 months old.
Even with all the running around for this trip ...I really notice he is not here.
The house feels strange..he does not make any noise but there is a quiet...
I even thought to myself " It is getting dark soon I need to walk the dog" ...It took me a second to remember he is not here. The cat was looking for him a dinner. My African Grey keeps calling him.
With such a full house... I am amazed at the emptiness for a dog that is not there...2 short years ago this was my life...
A dog becomes such a part of the family you forget what life was like without one.. I lived nearly 20 years without a dog and now it is hard to imagine a time without him .. ..
I need to remember this when he wants to walk in the pouring rain or wants play when it is 4 degrees outside.... he lays in the mud 1 hour after a 2 hr bath/blow dry ... ;-)
Having a dog's love and championship really is an amazing gift.
We're looking at getting a Vibe GT soon - I love the car! And I'm hoping Hershey loves it too! She's a great rider, and loves sleeping in the car, and getting up and looking around and nosing us in the front, and then going back to her nap.
Hoping once we get the Vibe, she doesn't start jumping back and forth from the back seat to the trunk space. We had a nice doggie seatbelt for her, but she silently destroyed it on a long car trip and got herself free!
So Far Chili loves it..He has his own window. and the back has a washable hard surface - easy to clean mud, grass and beach sand.

Two nights ago our doodle fhad his first sleep over away from home; Our 18 year old took him to his girlfriends and stayed the night with Neely our doodle. He usually gets in our bed and lays with us and plays and snuggles while we watch tv and we missed him and it felt almost lonely.
Daily though we do notice how glad we are that we decided to get another dog as ours is aging (15 YRS). We were not agreeing on getting one for the longest time. The cost was a major issue. We have been renovating for 5 years, have three boys that are still living or back living at home and I have a genetic disorder that stresses the family too. We didn't need more stress. Yet the puppy has actually brought our whole ffamily closer together as it is so nice to see how much my husband loves him and it reminds me of when we had our kids and how it made me love him more as I watched his interaction.
