Two types of coats?

I know I'm probably looking into this too much. I couldn't help but notice that Toka's hair on his head and front portion of his body is curly, but the back is sort of straight or wavy. Does that mean he will have two different coats? Or is it just puppy hair changing? I thought his hair would be the same all over.

Hershey is wavy labrador on top, and curly poodle-ly on the bottom, and on her legs. Only her tail sheds- very labby, like a rudder.

I think that mix is cute :D It's the straight and really curly that doesn't seem to go. But maybe it will look ok.

They can have a combination of coats....or just one kind. My cousin's doodle looks just like a lab in the front...straight (shedding)hair and all....with a curly non-shedding backside....he is pretty extreme....but most of them have some characteristics of different coats. I don't think you will know for certain what he will have as a grown-up doodle until he gets his adult coat. But he does look like he'll be non-shedding. =)

OH wow, that does sound extreme. I just didn't want his coat to look weird. Straight on the back and curly in the front.

Yup it's totally possible in a mix.
My Rosco has:

--afro curly thighs
--loose wavy soft hair on his head, chest
-- thinner wavy hair on his legs
-- slightly less wavy on his sides
-- coarser/wirier hair along his spine (more shedding there) and tail

Well, I was just hoping his coat wouldn't be straight on one side and curly on the other :/ I thought that would look a bit weird. I can understand if it's curlier in one section and wavy ... but straight and curly?

He'll be adorable....he already is....he looks like he'll have a fleece type coat with some curlier and some wavier spots...but he doesn't look completely straight anywhere.

If you look at pictures on DK, you will see the dogs have unique coats (some more than others) but they all look adorable. Stop worrying, he will be gorgeous.

Lizzie is a mix too, although her adult coat hasn't come in yet, so I'm still waiting. She's curly on her head and feet, and really straight on her back. Sheds everywhere, but at 6 months, there's no telling what she'll "grow up" to look like!

Giada has different coat types also. Same exact as yours, but it really doesn't look odd, but much harder to comb through the thick curly hair on her head and neck area!

If you look at pics of my Abby she is a true fleece. Her coat is long, thick and silky soft with very little wave to it. She doesnt shed at all. I have some pics of her at 6 weeks old and she had a bit of curl on her ears like your puppy but that is pretty much gone now. This is a pic of her at 10 weeks old or so. I need to get some recent pics of her on my puter. Sh is 5 months old now. Her hair is even and about 3- 4 inches long everywhere. Check out my page for more recent ones than this.

OMG I'm dying of cuteness! Reds are my weakness :P Eventually, I will get another it's going to be a red! She's seriously adorable! I LOVE her wave!
