Nice name for a new private group. This new group is really a nice way to get new doodle owners to participate and not be hesitant to ask questions about their new doodle puppy.

I am one of those newbies. I guess i won't ask any questions... just search for answers and hope someone else has already asked.

I take exception to "dead baby" jokes. No matter what the context I find them offensive. As a parent there is no worse image than a dead baby. Do a little research on SIDS. I hope that you are never in the position to truly understand. Perhaps when you are a parent you will have a better understanding.

And Clark - I do think a public apology should be made.

But let me get this straight... you are defending the 'smacking of stupid people in the face so hard they might get smarter' when that message is delivered right to that person you have deemed stupid, one of our members? You are fine with personally identifying a member, identifying them as stupid to everyone, and then suggesting physical abuse toward them? Do you really want to defend that?

My offensive joke was directed at no one personally. Here or anywhere. If you choose to be offended by it, so be it. These 'slaps' and 'smacking of stupid people in the face so hard they might get smarter' were directed at specific members. Not appropriate ever.

You are great at confusing the issues. These are two seperate issues. Talking or thinking about a "dead baby" makes me physically uncomfortable.

Please re-examine yourself and decide for yourself if it is appropriate in any circumstance to make a joke about a "dead baby". I don't think you would in a public forum make a racial joke or a joke about someones religion. Where are your values?

You also do not have the least regard that you have offended many people with that type of post.

OK. So if you missed my point entirely, I'll make it more clear:

Just because someone says something is a joke does not mean that it is not offensive OR that it's funny.

Your reaction proves the point. Just because certain offensive 'smacking' posters say 'it's just a joke, lighten up...' does NOT make it non-offensive or even funny. And that has been the only defense given for this offensiveness... it's just a joke.

As I mentioned before, I too am offended by these baby jokes. But I was making a point. Apparently not very clearly. Just because someone says it's a joke does not make it so.

OK, first of all, there was 2 (two) slap posts and they were not directed AT someone, but at the idea of hitting a dog and rehoming a dog. They were meant as fun, they were not, they were removed, no more were done. I am not sure why people are saying that they were all over the forum, they were not. I am sorry if anyone was offended and it will not happen again. As I said...IT WAS MEANT IN FUN NOT TO OFFEND. The name is changed, the wording has been changed. If you don't like dark humor, silly humor or curse words, don't request to join.

By the way, it was made as a public group by accident and was up for about 10 minutes, and then deleted and made private. It was public for all of 10 (ten) minutes.

JMHO another attempt to call us who posted here STUPID?.....you are too much and I am ROTFLMBO. 10 (ten) minutes..... you are telling this to people who may have been aware of how long it was in public remember. I will not touch the "I didn't do it directly to hurt someone or offend...it was just funny to me though to call someone STUPID and slap them"... My 7 year old can pull off better Nah uh I didn't do it's than this one. Thanks for the laugh.

Interesting. I didnt know this group existed. I even made a blog entry coincidentally called Slap My Face. LOL. (My parents when I was young always used to say "I will slap your bloody face" if I got out of line - lo). (Immigrants - perfectly acceptable form of talk in the "old country" lol).

Anyways ask away. You are seeking info. Dont even worry about anything but the answers/advice you are looking for.

I guess I should search the groups one day to see what else is out there.

I am all for humor, I am a funny person (At least I am my biggest fan of my own jokes at home - lol) but I dont agree with burning out somebodies flame to make mine burn brighter.

Reading Jacquies responses, though, I dont think the intention of that group was what you think Wendy.
