Has anyone had any experience with Lakeview Doodles in upstate New York? What about Liberty Pine Doodles in West Virginia? We are located in the New York area and are looking for a mini goldendoodle in the 25-30 pound range for pick-up in Mid-August early September. We would prefer to drive to pick up the puppy up to a 4 hour drive.. Does anyone have any criteria suggestions for selecting breeders, questions I should ask or things I should be wary of?
Little Mountain Doodles www.littlemountaindoodles.4t.com is where I got our Goldendoodle from. Molly is an F1, standard size, but they have mini Goldendoodles as well. I was just looking at the website tonight and they have pics on there of some really cute mini pups. They are in Pennsylvania.
Lakeview is GREAT!!! I have a dog from Beth and as a breeder am very picky about who I'll buy from. I'd buy from her again in a heartbeat! She is very honest and home raises pups from health tested parents.
Thank you so very much for your feedback! I spoke to Beth and absolutely adored her and felt 100% trust in her statements!!! It is so wonderful that you are a breeder. This would be our family's first ever dog and a vet made me nervous that I could be making a 15 year mistake by choosing the wrong breeder. He suggested Fox Creek in W. Va. and/or to make sure that the breeder I choose has certifications similar to Fox Creek such as GANA or Goldendoodle Owner Recommended, etc. I'm not certain Lakeview has those certifications or how much weight I should give it.. Any opinion, as a breeder? Thank you again!!!!
Hi Betty,
Fox Creek is also great. Amy is a friend of mine and I work with her on GANA. Fox Creek does have a pretty long waiting list though. Beth (Lakeview) isn't a GANA member, but she does do all the health testing. I know because she gave me copies when I bought my pup. I know Muffin is due any day now. IF there's still room on that list, I'd jump on it! My Lizzy is from Muffin & Jax so would be a full sibling of your pup. Lizzy is the most affectionate, sweet pup ever! GANA also has a listing of breeders by state. It's a newer organization so doesn't have a ton of members yet....but it is growing. :o)
Kudos to you and your vet for researching breeders before buying! Quality breeders health test and offer guarantees on their pups. You are choosing a companion for the nest 15 or so years. Taking the time to make sure you are geting a pup from tested parents is very important.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am waiting for an e-mail from Beth as to Muffin's pups. My sons are on "muffin patrol" and keep asking if the pups were born yet! How exciting that they would be full siblings! How many pounds is Lizzy. She is so gorgeous! Do you also know the breeders Liberty Pine Doodles in W. Va.? I am over the moon that you replied to me with all this useful information! Thank you so much!
Lizzy is full grown and 28 pounds. She was the biggest in the litter though. One of the pups in the litter is just 7 pounds, full grown. Most of them are about 20, I think.
I don't know Liberty Pine, but that doesn't mean they aren't great. It just means I don't know them. The below article Adina posted is GREAT! Just ask the right questions and don't be afraid to ask to see health testing.
Thanks again for all the info! I'll let you know if we're lucky enough to get one of Muffin's pups...hopefully one comparable to Lizzy's size but it sounds like regardless of weight, she's going to have a huge heart! Have a good night!
