this is a relatively new issue with us. It started two weeks ago during Beck's training class. Admittedly, it's a bit boring for him because he knows the stuff that the dogs are being taught, but I still thought it would be another opportunity for socialization and stuff...anyway- last week we were doing long lead recalls. Beck fell asleep waiting for his turn. When I finally woke him up (and it took some effort) he did his recall just fine, but instead of running at breakneck speed back to me like the instructor wanted, he just sort of loped to me, then laid down again and got all comfy and started to fall asleep again.

Then, the next day DH and I decided we would take him to a really busy place and work with him on not jumping up to greet strangers, so we sat outside a large bookstore with him, with dozens of people coming and going. A good number of them came up to greet him, but after about 15 minutes of that he laid down in the middle of the sidewalk and fell sound asleep.

I called the vet, she said he's fine, just a bit lazy & to be thankful that at 6 months he can relax enough to fall asleep around people, but I have never in my life had a dog like this lol

Duff is pretty laid back too, but is there any chance he isn't getting enough energy out of his food? I recently started cooking for Duff and believe he has a lot more pep now.
I think his food should be ok, he gets taste of the wild with homecooked in it (usually chicken and rice). He eats really well, and he seems to have energy when he 'wants to'. He will play with other dogs for hours, but it just seems that now when he gets bored he has decided to take a nap.
I find Yankee very funny with sleeping habits too. He doesn't rush to get up in the morning. DH finds this very strange and said most dogs run to the door to pee in the morning. Yankee doesn't even get up when DH is cooking breakfast. It does sound lazy.
Samantha doesnt get out of bed on the weekends until 11ish unless we are going out. She is just not a morning Doodle. Her bladder must be made out of steel!
On weekdays, she goes to work with me. I have finally decided to go to work and when she needs to go out she tells me.
Beck has always been like that in the morning. Both our dogs go to bed about 9:30pm, but our other dog is doing the pee-pee dance at 6am but Beck will usually roll out of bed an hour or so later and even then he's not in any real hurry to get up
Both of my doodles are kind of crazy sleepers. Although Fenway is a really light sleeper, she'll sleep and sleep in the morning until we get up, which sometimes is a little late. Dustin on the other hand will sleep anywhere. He even went to sleep on the metal table at the vet on his first visit. He is also a very hard sleeper and doesn't wake up very easily. Fenway would lift her head up out of a dead sleep if a I moved, but you could lift up each of Dustin's paws and drop them and he won't even notice. He is a lazy doodle though.
Every time Zeke goes to the vet he falls asleep on the cool exam table. Of course our vet continously rubs and massages him ( she says she's doing her exam ) the whole time we are there. I think she gets as much out of his visits as he does. I've been real tempted to find a large piece of stainless for him to have at home, he's such a hot body.
