So my Maddy turned 16 weeks on Friday and I took her to the vet yesterday for her checkup. Much to my surprise they told me she gained 11 lbs in 4 weeks!!! She now weighs 29.8 lbs!!! The vet is not concerned at all and says he doesn't expect that trend to continue - thank God! He says that they usually do most of their growing in the 1st 6 months and then it will start to taper off. Now let me say that she looks great...she's definitely not a roly poly or anything but I was definitely shocked!!! Anyone else have a similar experience with their Doodle?
We brought Maggie home on June 12th--- 12 lbs 5 oz.
The following Friday - 15 lbs 2 oz.
She's on the same track as yours.
Based on her half-sister Daisy who was the 2nd smallest in her litter and finished at 35 lbs, we guessing Maggie will go all the way to 45 lbs. That's the high end of the normal range for our breeder.
I hope she doesn't go much past that.
Samantha doubled her weight from 16 weeks to what it is now. She was 33.4 and now 64ish. By 11 months she did most of her growing and weight gain.
I thought that by 12 months they 'finish' their growing??
Double the weight at 4 months +10lb for the adult approx. weight, right? So, you can estimate 70lb for Maddy, I guess... She is going to be a big girl...
Max doubled his weight from 10 lbs at 8 wks to 20 lbs at 16 wks. Then really slowed down. He's approx 30 lbs at 11 mths. I'm reading Adrianne's reply and Samantha gained most of her weight after 16 wks and Max gained his prior to 16 wks. So I guess anything goes.
Here is my Ginger's weight chart. She is now 8 months old and I can only guess she is closer to 50-55 lbs.
7 weeks old: 2.6 lbs
10 weeks old: 3.1 lbs
12 weeks old: 4.8 lbs
15 weeks old: 12 lbs
17 weeks old: 18 lbs
6 months old: 45 lbs
