Scotlund Haisley from HSUS sent me these videos and photos..( videos are at the bottom) He is the Director of Emergency Services @ HSUS and was in charge of the raid. The Parti colored dog is "Liberty Bell" a Portuguese Water Dog pulled from AH....Pictured are Scotlund and Beau Archer of HSUS and various volunteers.
Thanks for posting this. What a huge difference in Blake since you got him. I know the others will have the same kind of recovery thanks to everyone's efforts on this.
Thanks Leslie...I feel relieved to know that Blake's mother is no longer in that hell hole and I am comforted to know that she is probably now safe and sound in a loving home with a family who will adore her....Something she has probably never experienced in her entire life.......
You know for sure that Blake's mother was one of those rescued in this raid? Did you get to see her? That would be cool to meet her after all this time. And a huge relief to know she's safe now.
Sorry it took so long for me to respond Leslie...No I don't know for a fact but I know that there were many female breeders pulled during the raid and I can only assume that she was rescued...
Yeah, he probably wouldn't have given her up willingly or even sold her if she was a good producer, so I'm sure she was still there when the raid occured. It's comforting to know that she'll get a good home now. Too bad there's not a way to try to track her down. It would be cool to see her and see if Blake looks like her. Blake's a mini F1B right? So would his mom be a labradoodle?
As far as I was told, of the breeding females that were doodles, there were mostly F1 ad F1B standard and medium Labradoodles, Goldendoodles and small Standard Poodles.....There were no Labs and maybe 2 Golden Retrievers.....It was pretty well known that Skip did mostly F1B's.......
And I know Jac won't feel that I'm hi-j****** her post here when I tell you that AH was far from the worst puppy mill in the country, and there are still atrocities like this and worse going on all over the country. Please take a look at this link to a report on Kathy Bauck of "Pick of the Litter" kennel in MN, which some have called the worst, most inhumane puppy mill in the country. There is a link to a video which will hurt you to watch. Even after being convicted on three counts of torturing animals, her mill continues to operate, under a family member's name. Even if Skip Eckhart never goes near a dog again, this is what is still going on. This is where pet store dogs come from. http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/news-updates/the-verdict-on-kathy... http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/news-updates/more-on-kathy-bauck-...
Hi-jack away baby!....I think we are as sick of hearing about Almost Heaven as we are of hearing about Michael Jackson....lol.... It's important to remind people that AH is only ONE mill...There are thousands just like it all over the US and Canada......
Imagine taking your dog there to be groomed or boarded!!
YIKES!!
And to imagine the sad life of the breeding 'stock' and puppies born into that Almost He$$ of a place...your pics say it all, Jacquie, thanks for sharing them.
There are many things that I have learned on doodlekisses - some have been good and happy or funny - some have been good for me to know. I am so far away that I know they weren't looking for fosters or homes out here but after seeing the pictures, I thought that just donating my money wasn't enough. As I am scrolling down I was trying to figure out how I could get from California to help out even one doodle. I am so happy to find out that fosters and forever homes are already in place for these guys.
I have heard about the puppy mills before, but have never seen video or pictures...makes me sick to think those so called "people" can treat animals like this. I mean, after watching the video from the link, I am really feeling sick! It sure made me go and hug my dog! I am so happy that the animals in that kennel are now safe and will be able to experience true love and companionship from people that really care! I hope and pray that all the other puppy mills in the country will be shut down and the owners and their accomplices will be prosecuted to the fullest! I am outraged that anyone could get away with this! Maybe they need a little taste of their own medicine???? Maybe when they are prosecuted, instead of wasting tax dollars, they should be kept on the premises with the same housing and care they offered the dogs. That would really make someone think twice about it!
