Yesterday evening Abby flops down infront of me and she is chewing on something. So I go to investigate what she has in her mouth. Nothing. She continues to chew and chew so then I get down open her mouth up and peek in there, nothing seems to be stuck in her throat (thank God). Anyways chew chew chew, so now I am worried I stick my finger in their and root around and stuck to the roof of her mouth is a big glob of white bread, molded to fit her palate like dentures LOL!!
I never buy white bread. But this once for a treat for the kids I decided I would get some. Well I guess the kids dont really like it at all and left it there for Abby to counter surf.
So now I think I will pop a piece white bread onto her palate and really squish it on when I leave the house, so she has something to occupy her for a couple of hours! LOL! (kidding of course)
LOL...I loved the mental image of her denture treat =)
Thule got ahold of the slightly dried up heel of a loaf of artisan white bread. I suspected something was up because I heard some crunching and upon investigation saw her butt sticking out of her plastic crate. She NEVER takes things into her crate to devour unless it's a very valuable NEW treat she was given (like a just finished yogurt container) OR something she should NOT have..... Since we hadn't given her anything...I knew it was just her being sneaky sneaky sneaky!
LOL...that has got to be a weird feeling though... Hannah has a habit of licking in the air sometimes and I always check her mouth to see why she is doing this...once I did find something stuck between her teeth and it was annoying to her, but what was funny is it was not food, she was bitting her nails and broke a piece off which lodged inbetween her teeth.
My favorite quick snack is a peanut butter (crunchy of course) sandwich. This past weekend Harlow swiped my sandwich when I had my head stuck in the frig looking for milk. She got a bit of stuck in the roof of her mouth. She must of spent a good 5 minutes licking until all the peanut butter was gone. Then she looked at me like 'gee mom, that was good, got any more?' LOL
We have stuffed one of those cilindrical Kong toys with yoghurt and frozen it.
That keeps the dogs working on the treat for about 45 minutes, until all the yoghurt melts. The floor gets a little sticky, but that's what Swiffer wet mops are for! LOL
Okay another quick tip of something to keep the dogs busy for a while...real antlers. Not kidding. They have them at our local "hollistic" pet shop. They are not like rawhide or regular bones as you can imagine. They do not smell at all and it takes the dogs a loooong time to start getting it even chewy. They are somewhat pricey ($10 to $25 based on weight). BUT they keep my pups busy for hours. Not sure what type of animal...I just made sure they are not from China and that they are good for sensitive stomachs.
