Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I cried, my children cried, my husband was beyond upset. Grooming Gone wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY IS IT THAT YOU CAN HAVE A FIFTEEN MIN DISCUSSION WITH SOMEONE AND AGREE ON EXACTLY WHAT IS TO BE DONE AND WHEN IT COMES TIME TO DO IT, SOMEONE FORGETS OR JUST DOESN'T CARE. I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WORDS ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT MY DOGS GROOMER. OUR PUPPY, IS 11 MONTHS AND ADORABLE, WAS ADORABLE. WE HAD HIS FACE ALL GROWN OUT AND IS PUPPY FIR WAS ALMOST GONE AND NEW CURLY LOCK WERE GROWING. LONG STORY SHORT. CONVERSATION WITH GROOMER, DON'T TOUCH HEAD OR BEARD, LEAVE BACK THE LENGTH IT IS NOW, ONLY TRIM HIM TO MAKE HIM EVEN. CHECK OUT THE PICS AND YOU WILL SEE WHY I STILL AM CRYING. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO GROW OUT?

Go shopping for a new groomer, but in the meantime, don't worry too much. I've seen lots worse than that. Within a few short weeks it will be grown out enough, and in a couple of months it'll be long again and needing a cut.
I can imagine how sad you must be---doodles become part of the family. The back end looks really close and I would be careful of razor burn. However--on a positive note....your precious doodle has the same sweet smile in both pictures--before and after--so even though you feel like the grooming is awful, it will grow back and you will find another groomer! :-)
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think your doodle looks cute. For the butt photo - are you sure he wasn't matted? If he was matted the groomer would have to cut him short to get the matts out.

Dexter (white one in my photo) is a F1B and his hair grows SO fast. We cut him down to 1/4 inch at the very end of May and he is at least 1.5 inches long now.

I know you may be sad, but just remember it's only hair and will grow back.
Sorry, you are so dissappointed in your doodles haircut. If I was you I would just let it go and get a different groomer next time.
Wow, I hope you didn't pay the groomer. Besides contacting the BBB, you can post a review of the groomer on AngiesList (http://www.angieslist.com/Angieslist/Default.aspx), facebook, myspace and whatever other blog site you can find.
Johnna,

I remember the first time Teddy was groomed (full disclosure here: she was matted). She was shaved to her pink skin and the groomer did something funny to her ears. Just between you and me. she looked ridiculous but we told her she was beautiful and she believed us. I have to say that my girl loves being naked. I do know she feels better with the shorter coat. She definitely needs to go shorter right now. If your doodle was matted, it may have been necessary to take his coat down. It is the most humane way of dealing with the mats.

Your puppy and your boys are darling (long or short hair it doesn't matter). Your puppy is the same adorable guy. His fur will grow back in no time in the meantime just enjoy the low maintenance of his coat.

OMG I am really sorry especially when I look at the butt picture. What have they done there?
My advice: don't waste time with being mad at the groomer anymore. Feel more than happy to tell everyone you meet who did that lovely "summer cut" and it will spread faster than you might think.
It's time to look for a new groomer and luckily it's only fur which will grow soon.
My Mom always said the difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut is: 2 weeks.

:o)
