Gidget ate sons fluoride vitamin!!!

My son was taking his fluoride vitamin before bed and dropped it on the floor, before I had a chance to even bend down, Gidget licked it up!!!! I'm freaking out. I did a google search and the only thing I can find is that fluoride in dog toothpaste is controversial. Should I call the vet or just wait and see what happens? Ahhhhh!

Call the vet or call you local Poison Control. Our Poison Control is a local Children' s Hospital.

My dog once ate 90cc's of liquid codeine my son had for an ear ache. Poison Control was extremely helpful.

Just called poison control and they said there is no toxicity in the vitamins so they won't hurt her...they said to just watch her over the next hour because she may get a tummy ache and throw up. They said to give her something to drink to help dilute it and make it pass faster.

Milk may help to bind flouride.

It appears that there is a real possibility of poisoning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would trust poison control on this one...but if you are tempted to give him a few slurps of milk, he may enjoy that too =)

Because I am totally paranoid now, I did call an emergency vet, they told me to call poison control, lol. So...I called a different poison center to see if I'd get the same response and I did. They said there is really only a concern over a chronic use of fluoride and that's even controversial. Shwoo. I am not panicked now but I sure do feel like a terrible puppy owner! Ugh. How awful. Thank you all for responding so fast.

Don't feel terrible. You did the right thing. The fluoride probably tasted real good. :) Flavored maybe?

This morning Spud threw up a wash cloth. I don't even own a wash cloth with this pattern. I watch this dog more than I had watched my 2 year-old sons, and have no idea how long ago he ate this wash cloth or where it came from. ???? We are not perfect--but we try. Dogs keep us real busy and we do the best that we can. It think it would take awhile to ingest this, but don't remember a time when he was out of my site for more than 2 minutes.

Do you need a wash cloth to clean up that puke you mentioned above? I have an extra.
