Our 16 week old pup Penny has just lost her first baby tooth, top front, and has very pink gums at the back of her mouth. Is it common for pups to be off-color at this stage? She seems very draggy today, not her normal exuberant self. I gave her one of her favorite dog biscuits this morning, and she just sat there with it her mouth for about 5 minutes before eating it way slower than she usually does. I know human babies can go through hell when teething, but it's been so long since we had a dog, really can't remember what our previous dogs were like. Any feedback would be appreciated, as we're worried it might be something else.
Kevin-you are so right in saying that all of these doods are different. When you choose a puppy from a litter of 10(that was how many were in Thomas' litter) it is a bit of a "crap shoot" to see what you will get, isn't it. Our doodle is 10 mths old now-but we did not notice anything peculiar when he was losing his teeth other than finding one on the floor. I think the idiot swallowed most of them. I was worried sick that he had-but he never changed from his beastly behaviour. I guess he is just a macho male like you men can be when they are not feeling well ? (Sarcasm-sorry, I meant it with a humorous tone)
What do you mean? Like when men won't ask for directions-or when they put something together, they do not read the manual? I have a husband, two sons, and a male dog. I think they are wonderful even if they are a little "stubborn" at times. I have gotten totally off topic here now-Penny is adorable and hope her gums are feeling better! Deb
That's exactly what I mean...hee hee! Let me see now, I have two older sisters, no brothers. Married a girl who was an only child, and lived with her single mom. Eventually met her dad 9 years later who was re-married with 3 daughters. I had 2 dogs in England, both female, and later 2 cats, one of 'em was a male (neutered). Came to the US to marry Jeri, an only child, no children from her first marriage, and who's mom is widowed, we had 4 female cats (now 3), and a female Goldendoodle Penny....believe me, I know how women feel!...who cares about off-topic? Getting back on topic though, Penny has now lost 3 teeth, seems to be one every day, but her gums have calmed down a bit.
