Yesterday I had an episode of vertigo. I stayed on the couch all day and evening. I fed Sadie in the morning leaving enough food for the entire day in her dish and left the back door open for her all day. She would walk by me and look at me (in a concerned fashion, I think). Every once in a while she would come with a toy in her mouth to see if she could engage me in play. I tried a few times, but was too dizzy. Around dinner time, she came into the room I was in and dropped several pieces of kibble on the floor and stared at me. I said," it's fine Sadie, eat your dinner, it's fine" in my high squeaky dog voice. She looked at me for a bit and then went into the kitchen and ate. Since I am not a dog I can only guess on why she brought in the kibble...did she think her pack leader was "sick" and she shouldn't eat before her pack leader? Any ideas?
Maybe she was trying to take care of you. At any rate it was surely some sort of nice gesture. Vertigo is the most miserable illness--hope you're better.
I had a mole removed and resulting 8 stitches put in a week and a half ago. Needless to say, since it was in the leg area, I was a little "down" myself, and not up to walking Toby. He was a lovely, patient boy! Unlike his usual self - he's loving, but boisterous, being only one this month. The first day I did walk him I told him we had to go very slowly, and I probably took him on the slowest walk of his life. He didn't pull once! He was an absolute angel. So yes, I think these dogs can sense our needs, even when they are young.
So Sweet! You got yourself a big hearted doodle! I heard that a dog can sense a pregnancy in a woman within days of conception! (Her scent changes due to hormones)
