I really have to wonder if this owner is going to follow through on the training. I'm not sure she ever really "got" the importance of being a strong leader. Poor Jill....that cat's life looks so stressful.
I was amazed to see that Darla the owner had no reaction to the dog runing out the door and almost getting killed by a car? If mine did that, I would be all over them not to do this. I don't think she got it either with the strong leadership. I did see where Jack went to nip Victoria and she yelped really loud and it seemed to startle him plus she was body blocking him so he would stop. Darla admitted she allowed him to continue nipping her, stupid on her part. I wish they would do a follow up show a few months later so you can see if the training was effective and if the owners kept training up with their pets.
Wow that was one energetic doodle :) I thought Victoria taught her some great things (i.e. the harness in the car, lifejacket on the boat). I didn't see if they got Jack to stop nipping at her (that struck me as odd that he's still doing that at 18 months!!).

The "wait" command is really great. It was one thing Kirby was taught by his previous owner...
I noticed that the nibbling seemed more like a grooming thing than a biting thing.
I thought it was a good show, too. But I doubt Darla will keep up with the training, she was too wishy washy. I will definately try the car harness since Gracie always tries to "sneak" into the front seat. Also, the 2 ball thing, well, running away from the dog as well. I guess I learned a whole lot from the show. Funny though, I thought many times that if she were a member of DK, Jack would be a better doodle! LOL
I want to know where to buy that thingy that you attach to the seat belt to keep the dog in the back seat of the car...I have not seen those, but I would buy one in a second...Anyone know where to get one of those???...This dog will not get better, the owner is not the type to keep up with the training, that was very obvious to me...She was so blase about it, and could care less that he wasn't trained, and almost got hit by a car, she is too laid back a person to own an active large doodle...When Victoria was trying to get some excitement out of her, she had to show her how to act???...Strange, very strange...
Didn't see the show, but I got my seat belt thingy here: http://usak9outfitters.com/CH.htm
I got in on the show I think right after it started so I didn't get the age of the doodle nor how long the owner had him. All I know is that she looked like she didn't have a clue on how to train or discipline a Doodle. I felt sorry for the Doodle because he wasn't getting the proper training and care. I got the impression she was the one at fault and needed the training!!!! Bad Doodle owner!!!!
