we just had Samantha groomed and shaved after fighting matts. What a shock.... how long does it take her fur to grow back and anybody have an idea how her fur will come back in? She is 12 months old, and we love her so much.... She had gorgeous soft fur until the matts got out of control.. My wife is so upset.

Really you shouldn't worry about it too much. It definitely grows back. Depending on how short the groomer went, it could take from 3-6 months, or even less. I actually purposely shaved Kramer once, and I enjoyed the easy maintenance of the coat. The coat should come back exactly the same as it was.
Thanks..I appreciate your taking the time to comment It means a lot. I feel better.
Comiskey started playing in the water and ended up with massive mats I couldn't keep up with...she was so miserable...and so were we...so we went for the shave....the mats were so bad that in some spots the groomer left her pink!...but we knew this was the case and so there were no suprises (except seeing her next to Beemer with his very full coat)....so I have included a photo....the before is her in a beautiful full coat....next is her right after the shave...and the third photo is only 1 week later...as you can see..the coat is growing back quickly....hope this helps....I do have to say...it is nice to see her running around like a little pup again...we know she is happier now that the mats are gone!

We have Skeet shaved alot, esp in the warmer months. It grows back so fast and some of his shorter hair stages are
actually pretty cute. It is a shock when you first pick them up, but by the time you get over it it has already started growing and it sure is easier to get rid of matts that way if they have gotten ahead of you. I think it is easier on him also that trying to dematt his fur. Samantha's fur will grow back and look the same. It also makes bath time a breeze.
Thanks for the comments. Appreciate so many poodle friends giving us support. :)
I have had Hannah shaved down to the skin...I love when they are shaved down on the body and legs for the summer, it usually takes about 4 to 8 weeks for their hair to comeback (almost the way it was before the haircut). I had to shave Honey because of the paint ordeal and she is half way grown back in, she was shaved back in July, give another 4 weeks and I probably will wish I could shave her again...lol.
Thanks so much.. She is happier, but I can't wait for some to come back...she is almost to the skin.
My 13 mo. old Australian labradoodle was down to 1/2 inch fur at the end of June and was back up to three inches of fur at then end of August--I got it all cut off again at that time since it required so much brushing and dematting. I have heard from the experts in the doodle grooming group that the matting can lessen significantly after about 2 years of age--I'm hoping that is true in my dog's case!
I have found if you want the long hair you have to get to the groomer before the 5th week is over. Longer than that the matts just get out of control. Especially if you have doodles that play with each other. It always grows back...and I don't think the doodles care as much as we do LOL
