My 9 week old F1 Goldendoodle seems to shed a lot. Will he always shed or as his coat changes is it possible for him to shed less or not at all? Anyone have an opinion on this?
Peri used to shed lightly. Her coat is changing and she barely sheds at all now at 5 1/2 months. Sooo, I do think it is possible for him to shed less. Just don't count on it!
Wow, I just brushed Neely Monday. No real issues. He maybe fills the comb with hair after having done his whole body. But Today I was petting him and found some lumps behind his ears. They were tats. I got a good thick hand full of wooly fur just off his neck ear area! I had just cleaned and plucked his ears the day before so this happened quickly! He isn't dropping fur around the house it is shedding off and then tangling itself into little knots onto the remaining hair. So close to the skin too. I ended up brushing with one brush then combing through down to the skin with his regular comb. It took me a couple of hours and I think it had to of hurt his skin. He had a funny little one on his foot top before the toes that he really didn't like me combing out at all it let go lots of fur from nowhere but hurt his paw pulling it..
I knew that they usually dump their puppy hair and he has been losing hair during grooming for a few months just on his comb.
I have heard everyone talk about their shedding and how much if any and blowing the puppy coat but I don't remember seeing anything on how long this substantial blowing off the puppy coat and getting the adult coat in has taken before the adult coat is in and the dogs real coat and shedding habits are established. How long are we lookiing at for this stage??? I do not want to trim or shave so I will try and keep ontop of it myself. Thanks, and feel free to redirect me to a better discussion
