How long did you give TOTW? Sometimes it could take a few weeks for their systems to adjust. There are a few sensitive tummy and other brands discussions in The Food Group.
He's been on this since day one! He has always had loose stool and it has been progressing....been to the vet and he reccomended his brand, can't reacall the name just wanted to see what everyone on here suggested.
I had the same problem with Yankee. Some of the good foods are too rich for them. I tried several and finally ended up on Fromm. I was never so happy to see firm stools.
Hi Michelle. We have an aussiedoodle who had a case of pancreatitis from getting into the garbage and eating boneless pork from the Chinese restaurant. She was vomiting with blood in it and had bloody stool. She was hospitalized overnight. The dr. put her on a canned prescription food, which she did well on. Since then we tried Nutro for sensitive stomachs dry. After going back on that fully, she vomited again (no blood). The vet said that maybe she has intolerance to the preservatives in dry food. Needless to say I switched her to Nature's Recipe canned Chicken- for sensitive stomachs. It has no corn or wheat. So far, knock wood she has been much better. She eats like 2 cans a day, and I am going to try and introduce the dry again and see what happens... good luck I know how frustrating this can be! Shelly
Ali, too, has had issues with dogfood. She cannot tolerate the richer foods such as Wellness, Innova, Candidae. It took a lot of experimenting but finally she has been eating Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover for almost a year and no problems!
Taquito the chihuahua was on TOTW for a few months, but I changed for multiple reasons to Fromm's. We are using Fromm's salmon ala veg and for the first time in 5 1/2 years, Taquito finishes his bowl. He has a terribly sensitive stomach. The bites are small, it is high quality, etc...and Peri would eat 5 bowls if I allowed her to (mini goldendoodle).
Check out the Food Group also.
I had the same problem with Camo and Curly. The vet actually suggested to phase in the new food very gradually. For example, Start mixing in 10% of the new brand with the old brand at day one and observe their absortion and stool. and gradually increasing the % of the new brand each day, but not too fast. also, give a smaller portion at each meal when switching to a new brand would also help.

I did that with Camo and Curly for about 2 weeks and they are doing better with the new food and stool is a lot less loose now.
thanks everyone I am going to investigate more today and decide which to get!
Well Chicken soup for the dog lover is it! So far so good. I don't remember ever seeing him finish
his food, he really likes the taste! Stool seems a bit better but I did notice him trying to eat grass and leaves which made me believe maybe his tummy was upset. I gave him some chicken broth and he seemed to like that as well....keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
