I know this will sound strange but yesterday we took our 13 week old pup for vaccine shots. His second lyme and I think the other was distemper (if thats what its called). Anyway he was out of sorts afterwards so I figured the vaccine was kicking in and he just needs to rest. One thing was I noticed yesterday he did not understand the sit command. This is strange cause he has known that command since he was 9 weeks. So my husband says just wait till tomorrow he's just a little out of it. Well now its tomorrow and he still does not understand sit. I've tried to get him to sit with his favorite treat and he looks at me like I want to do what you want but I don't know what you want. I thought maybe it was painful for him to sit cause of the shot but he does sit on his own so it's not that. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? I'm not crazy right? lol.
I have never heard of anything like that but since it is so out of the ordinary I think you may want to call your vet! Just to be on the safe side. Keep us posted.
I know its strange and I didn't want to ask the vet cause it seems so cooky. Lol I think he may just be sore and not want to sit down. I'll have to wait and see.
your puppy may just be in a funk from the vaccine and not really feeling well... when I dont feel well, I typically dont want to do much either. Vaccines are pretty heavy duty and can knock them off track for a week or two.
Didn't your pup get his shot in the shoulder though? Our dood had so many shots when he was that little and they never gave it to him in the hip or the rump. Hope he is more himself today. I would be worried too-even though I worry too much about everything. I have heard that some dogs have reactions to shots. As long as he seems normal and is eating, and playing etc- I am sure he is MAYBE just MAD at you for taking him to get that awful needle. Really hope the little dood is more himself today.
