any doodles not using their flight crate I could borrow?? Rent.? He won't fit under my seat so needs a certain crate I am reluctant to buy if I CAN RENT ONE
We got our labradoodle from Burkhart's. Tyson was born in April 2008. It's nice to meet other people who got their doodles from Burkart's, and it would be really cool if I met anyone whose doodle had the same parents as Tyson.
Hi There, do you know the names of Tysons parents? Neelys mother was Daisy and his Dad is Goldie. I have the grand parents papers as well but all I can remember is that it sounds like an Asian name. All of Neelys siblings were also cream and a couple like Neely that are apricote too. Neely is 8 1/2 months and we are so pleased with him. He likes to chew but hasn't done any major damage to anything of importance. He is really smart.
We got our aussiedoodle from Burkharts, but she now lives with us down here in New York (Long Island) - buuuut.... she DOES bark with an accent! LOL ~ Shelly
LMAO
What a great looking doodle. She had some the day we were there and they were so cute. One mommy only had one puppy. That was unusual. But it was as cute as a button.
I feel bad that we never got to actually GO there. We just told Lovina what we wanted and went from there.... I felt really bad about that for quite a while. I originally put in for a merle, but at that time I thought it would have had more black in it. The merle she had, she said, was more silvery. So that's how we ended up with the tri - NOW I'm so glad we did. I still would love to see her littermates tho' and how they turned out. There was one person that I communicated with via e-mail who said he was going to send pics, but never did. I think he was from Ontario. BTW ~ Tori's dad was Goldie too. Guess we're related!! How old is your cutie?
Neely is 10 mths now. We went to Lovina's and came home with Neely whom I had expected to get a dog the next spring. I was on tours of places that I had narrowed down on tthe internet and some research. The "home" raised breeders we went to sent up alot of red flags to me. When we went into Burkehardts it is a huge breeder as they do all the lab golden and aussie doodles. The dads are housed in a wing of the barn (if you can imagine a large old barn in an L shape) They have indoor and outdoor condo units per dog. They were doing alot of barking from their balconies. Tails wagging happy hellos. There were a few people there at the time so there had been alot of traffic that day through the kennels. The main barn had a section just for the moms and babbies. When you enter you have to disinfect your feet and hands. The puppies aren't allowed to walk out of their enclosure on the cement where people walk even then so they don't get some germs tracked in from a shoe. The place didn't even smell like a dog. the beds were as clean as could be. the moms were very happy and proud of their litters and very relaxed. Our Daisy mom was a little timid but she isn't actually a full time resident of Burkehardts. She had no problem with me handling the pups or petting her but she kept a good eye on me. The dogs were all groomed and nails all done too. They were all in great condition. Better than the home based breeders we had went to with only one or two dogs. So feel good about where you got yours from. The only thing I worry about is what happens to the ones that they can't sell. I never asked that question. I should have incase they are providing them to stores ect. The vet of theirs is wonderful I asked him alot about the breeders and he was very open and honest with me aabout his beleifs about not working with puppy mills or anyone who mistreats an animal as they do not have to work with anyone they feel uncomfortable with unlike a dr who has to no matter what. I still keep Neely at their vet. They are also not judgemental about haveing doodles. Likely because they have a good relationship wth Burkhardts and have been exposed to well bred doods I wouldn't hesitate to get another one there at all.
Wow! That does sound good. I did worry a bit about never actually seeing, but I did read their web-page with the letters from the people and i did, as I said get to communicate with someone who went there and got a male from the same litter. They are the ones who actually e-mailed us our first picture of Tori. I did just a bit ago become concerned because our vet said that perhaps Tori has a bit of "fear aggression" b/c of her constant and ferocious sounding bark when we have some visitors come by. He said her mom may have been timid???? I actually have been videotaping her in this state to put on my page, or on the dog whisperer group for possible suggestions.... I called some behaviorists, but they want at least $600.00. And right now - that's just not going to happen. Other than those infrequent "outbursts" she is a wonderful dog! Thanks so much for the great description. You put some concerns I had put in the back of my mind at ease!!!
Neely is as friendly as you can get and well socalized. But his bark when seeing visitors is like he is going to eat them. It happens usually with strangers but still he does it when hes at the window for us as times and loves to say hi from the end of the laneway to passers by. He wags his tail. But if you didn't know him you'd swear he was aggressive. The mailman knows now he is just saying hi. so he just walks up and talks away to him. He has never acted worried just excited. Before you label him make sure he is acting fear not just sounding it. Neelys mom was a bit nervous but non of her babbies were thats for sure. All rambuncious curious little bundles of fun.
Hmmm sounds just like Tori, but some times with strangers she really sounds MEAN. I have to pick her up - thank goodness I can - I really hold her she tries to get out of my arms, but to help visitors feel more comfortable, I hold her. She does still bark when I hold her. So loud sometimes, I can hardly hear the people speaking...Funny she is soooooo wonderful if not for this
