Well today started like all other days, with my two dogs playing and romping in the house...They were having their usual fun with each other, nothing different from all other days...So I decided to grab a quick shower, and left the bathroom door open so they could see where I was...No problem, lol....So I come out of the shower, dry my hair, get dressed and fo to put my glasses on, brabd new, just got them this past Sat and I don't see them anywhere. Now I know I left them in their case on my nightstand, and they have been there. every morning since Sat. I walk around the rm, into the hall and their is Oliver chewing them to shreds....All that was left were pieces of the frames...I freaked out about first that he swallowed the metal and the plastic lenses, and then I freaked because they just cost me $ 275.00. I guess I scared the heck out of him when I screamed his name. he dropped what was left, and took off to hide, ( silly dog, he is too big to hide)...My other dog, ran to his crate and went in and wouldn't come out, lol...BUT not Ollie, he just looked at me, like Ma what did I do???...Well I have been watching him all day since htis happened and he seems to be fine, of course I am sure he ate the lenses, they were plastic, and he ate part of the frames...He was his happy self today, pooped twice since the incident, no sign of anything, and he is eating and drinking fine...I am a wreck though...Called the eye Dr. and he is remaking the glasses for me...Of course I have to pay another $275.00, but I am going to call my credit card co. and see if they will re-emburse me...I knew I should have used my Amer.Express card, they would have done it, I thought I did, but when I called them, I realized I didn't...Ugh, just what I needed, but I guess this too shall pass, but I sure am happy Ollie is fine, but I could have used the money for other things,,,

LOL...hmmmm I often wondered how could a dog be so good and then be so bad in less than 5 minutes?...Did you get a warranty with the glasses, they should be covered if you just purchased them, check with your eye care specialist if they cover them if damaged. My Rottie was great at getting glasses, so we always made sure we had warranties on them. I have sliding doors on my head board, Honey and a friends dog I was pet sitting for opened this sliding door and got a hold of my case with my glasses in them, they chewed threw the case and got the glasses...they were almost a year old and covered.
Ditzy Mitzi also ate two pair of eyeglasses in one month! First she got my grandson's, then mine. From now on we will get insurance with our glasses, both had to be replaced and neither pair of our eyeglasses were covered. She also chewed up my driver's license just enough that the scan bar is damaged, another replacement needed!

We try now to keep everything out of her reach, but she still finds things to get into, what good doodle doesn't? I think the most important part of sharing a life with a Doodle is a good sense of humor.
Isn't that the truth, Sally, lol,,,I just look at that sweet face and my heart melts...BUT...eating glasses is not a good thing for me or him...So far his stomach has been fine, and he is eating and drinking and pooping ok...So I am hoping that he won't get sick on me yet...He just loves to put things in his mouth, leaves, twigs, rocks, etc etc...But today he has been a good boy...we will see what tomorrow brings, lol...And by the way, my glasses were not insured either. Ugh...
I work at an Optometrists office and we have dogs eating glasses daily in there. Some saveable some not. But one his is for sure Dogs like to chew glassed and dental appliances. Maybe we should just buy them their own right from the start so they feel like real humans and use them not eat them. can you see dogs with glasses and retainers???

My pup has gotten my glasses several times off of my nightstand.  I try to remember to put them out of his reach but at night, I guess the habit of just placing them on the nightstand is inborn.  the lenses are scratched with tiny little bite marks that are annoying, but still I can still see ok.  I am going to wait to replace!  Quincy is not a destructive chewer, more a nibbler.  I can see the underwear and socks he sneaks, but what about hard metal/plastic is so appealing?
