I just realized my pup ate some of the chipped paint that was peeling off my back deck. Does anyone know if that is harmful?

Probably not too dangerous....How MUCH did she eat?
I'm not sure how much of it he ate because there is chipped paint all over the deck and I just happened to catch him today. He could of been doing this for weeks without my noticing because I do let him out alone to go potty and play a bit.
Well, I don't know if it's anything to panic about, but it certainly isn't good for him, and needs to be stopped immediately. Paint contains all kinds of heavy duty-chemicals, especially the kind that's used outdoors on porches, decks, etc. If you can't supervise him every time he's outside, the paint needs to be repaired ASAP.
Yup!
Yes now that I realize that he is eating it he won't be going out alone till its fixed!!! Thanks
Our Cocoa has a special fondness for drywall... luckily it hasn't made her sick. We spray everywhere she shows an interest in chewing with a spray called "Bitter End" (I know- what an awful name!) and it has really worked well to discourage chewing. http://www.cardinalpet.com/products/petbotanics/petbotanics_product...
If it is wwater based paint and not lead I think your ok. Other than if it is pressure treated wood as the green coating contains arsenic as well as other carcinogenic material. I think poison control would be a good place to call.
For an update I want to let you all know that I spoke to my vet and he said there is nothing to worry about. He said the only paint that is harmful in the lead based and they don't use that anymore. He said there would of been signes right away. He also said that with puppies ,whatever they ingest goes quickly through their system and it will not harm him at all. I am so relieved and thanks for all your advice!
Other than lead based paint (Which has been banned for residential use since 1978 in the US) dried paint chips are inert and not a hazardous material... even for ingestion. It's not a GOOD thing... but aside from possible physical obstructions, they should not harm your dog.

I'm glad your puppy is doing great!
