Noah is 13 months old, but recently, everyone is mistaking him for a puppy (like 6 months old). He does look pretty young, but I think doodles in general retain a youthful/puppy look. He's not obnoxious and dominant like some adult dogs though, so maybe that's why they think he's a puppy?

ooh I hope Peri stays this way. I think her personality will - she doesn't have a dominant bone in her body. Socialization you think??? Plus an awesome breed mix????
Duncan's about 10 1/2 months and everyone thinks he's a puppy puppy. Most people where I live think all LDs are standard size. Also, he still sits like a puppy (with the leg hanging off to the left) and he's always chasing leaves or trash outside and everytime we see another dog he does the play bow. I often pray he stays this way forever though.
People rarely ask us about Ned when we are out and about - ever in his life! I think they think he is just one of "those little poodle-mix dogs" that are found all over. Some people say, "Cute dog" of course! And a few ask about him, but mostly - "nuttin' honey." I do think that the bigger doods have more of a presence. I guess that Ned must have a different look than Noah or Duncan, or maybe it is Southern California.
Thanks for the compliment. We think Ned is really cute also, but he just doesn't get much notice when we go to the store or the park. I remember noticing this when we first got him because we were so proud of his "stuffed animal" look. He was soooo darling. I chased a lady down the street when I saw my first doodle. I had to know what that dog was (he was a red mini F1b). Maybe it is his color? Noah and Halas are really striking.
Must be where you are! Because I have had people stop in the middle of the street to ask about Peri. We definitely have quite a few doods around town, but people still don't always now what she is. Now I can personally pick out a doodle from a mile away now :)
Halas is over 2 years old, and people still think he's a puppy sometimes. I think it's his excitement about seeing people. Once he's met someone once, he's always really excited to see them again. And if he sees them again five minutes later, he still greets them with the same exuberance. I think that extra friendliness makes him seem more like a puppy.
We think he is cute also. But..... I remember noticing that people did not notice Ned from when we first got him, and he was such an adorable puppy. When I saw my first doodle ( a red F1b mini), I chased the owner down the street. I had to know what that dog was! Noah and Halas are so striking! Peri has that darling scruffy coat. Now, Duncan and Ned could be brothers, so perhaps it is where we live.
I think Ned is really cute. If I saw him, I'd definitely stop to pet him and ask if he was a doodle of some kind. And you get so many great pictures of him in clever places. I would think a lot of people would stop and ask about him when they see you taking those photos.
There are several standard size doodles where I live (one is 95 lbs)!! so people are surprised when I tell them Max is a full grown labradoodle. Then they say they really like his size and love the dark chocolate coloring. And I think because of his size & being so happy most people think he's a pup. I can walk outside and come back in in a few minutes & you'd think I'd been gone for hours :-)
We have >100 in our Richmond, VA doodle group (it is WUUUNDERFUL) and Jazz is one of the "few" smaller doodles, (not sure she's "mini" -- more "medium", much shorter and @35 lbs), so I think it's what makes her appear younger and more receptive to children on doodle outings (she's such a SUCKER for a belly rub from any kid -- haha). She's a bit more "mellow" than the big boyz... but we love them all !!!

Embrace it, and give a big grin when your doodle wants to crawl in your lap. At least your legs won't go numb !!
Although Belle is just 11 months only, so technically still is a puppy, she has really retained her 'puppy face' so people all the time think she is an even younger puppy. The always say "oh, what a cute puppy, what kind is it?" Maybe because she is so little (just 14 lbs) people just assume that she is a puppy because she does look like a goldendoodle and most people associate them with larger dogs
I am updating my response now - 4 months later, Peri is 11 months old and looks like an adult now. People don't think she is a puppy anymore :( I love how she looks but she is definitely more grown up and "adult" like. People have asked if she is a puppy only if she is acting like one - not based on looks LOL.
