Does anyone have any experience with Cockpoos?? We would MAYBE like to add another doggie to our family but two doodles the same size as ours would be a bit "crowded" shall I say. I saw a cockapoo the other day-I actually though it was a medium or mini doodle. He was sooo cute and seemed very well behaved. Any info is appreciated.

Thank you Debbie, he is an amazing dog :) He has a lot of poodle traits and thinks very much for himself, but also is very loving and intuitive. He is a therapy dog and we train competitive obedience, He is the biggest I have ever seen myself, they say standard/large size cockapoo is anything over 20lbs LOL I guess that does make him a giant! My medium labradoodle is 32lbs, just about half his size. She is the instigator in most of the play and he loves it. Take a look at some of their videos on my page if you want to see how well they do together even with the size difference. The brother and sister video is still my favorite, she was just 8 weeks old and already biting at his feet. Good luck in your decision, can't wait to see what you decide :).
I think the size of cockapoos can vary depending on what size poodle is used. If the poodle parent is a miniature instead of a toy, you get bigger offspring.
We were walking last week and Peri (mini goldendoodle) was actually mistaken for a cockapoo! I have heard they are great dogs, but I tend to like the retriever with the poodle more. Just my personal opinion - maybe because the cocker spaniels I have known don't seem as smart as a retriever.
My Spike is a Cockapoo (or a Spoodle as we call them in Australia). He does look quite a lot like a Miniature Labradoodle, although his personality is quite different to my Buffy. She is quite goofy, whereas he is a little more sedate. He is very loving and cuddly though, and likes nothing better than curling up on my lap. Spike and his little buddies have their own forum/message board too (Google "Spoodle Forum").
I am going to guess cockapoo???? Only because of the long wavy ears-very cocker like. But honestly it could be a doodle too. Whatever it is-this puppy is gorgeous! What beautiful colouring! Tell me more.
If you love the temperament, intelligence, look, etc. of labradoodles... and also want to experiment a bit or otherwise like the cockapoo features, several breeders are infusing their lines with cockapoos. The Australian labradoodle actually was created with such an infusion [along with several other breeds]. Cockapoos offer many benefits with their infusion. We are in the process of purchasing this little guy above. He will be our first labradoodle with a parent cockapoo. I am excited to get him to see the dfferences and/or similiarities with the other labradoodles. I am eager to see what he does for our breeding program. The other idea is to purchase just a miniature or medium labradoodle without the cockapoo in the line. They often range from 20 to 40 lbs. If your current labradoodle is very large... you may not want to get a dog that is too small so they can play and roughhouse a bit with no risk of injury.
Wow your little guy is cute!!! Our Peri is 20 pounds at 7 months and she is such a wonderful size! Just enough of a "real" dog size (lol - like my husband says), but a more management size for our stage in life.
The little guy in your picture is absolutely gorgeous!! So he is 1/2 labradoodle amd 1/2 cockapoo? That is so very interesting. I have to say this now- I find mini or medium labradoodles quite high energy-more so than the standard size. Having said that I have only met a few mediums. From what I have heard (heresay only) the medium and minis have the smaller size poodle in their lineage. These smaller poodles tend to be more hyper than the standard poodle. So- the outcome is a cute little dog-yes-but quite high energy. This is only what I have heard and I myself know nothing about this. However that is why I was looking into a cockapoo as I felt the size was good for a second dog (our Goldendoodle is big-about 85 lbs at a year) and their temperament was perhaps calmer than smaller doodles.. I hope I am making sense. I know-any dog will have its own personality and temperament but every cockapoo I have met are such wonderful, smart, loving, good natured dogs. We will decide this winter and perhaps bring home a puppy this spring. Thank you for your thoughts. Appreciate it.
Jane-thks for your comments. i think I have mentioned this before-your little man Noah is one of my favourites on DK. He is just so cute. He really is 'the teddy bear dog". You are so lucky that he is calm and I can't believe you call him "slug". That is so funny to call this soft, furry, shaggy little teddy bear SLUG!! Noah is a goldendoodle, right? What breeder did you get him from??
I was just looking at Trish Suttons(DK member and breeder) site and she has this little guy available. I think he is a medium labradoodle and he is red. Did Noah look anything like him-same colour??
