Susan, The very idea of one of the dogs being allowed to carry something in his mouth without the other one tearing it out or fighting with it is almost unimaginable! That just doesn't happen in our house. Edible items are the only things they don't compete for. As long as they each have thier own. Wierd isn't it?
We'll be replacing Penny's "Hide A Squirrel" today, which has lasted nearly ONE YEAR! It's amazing, cuz she destroys every stuffed toy she gets her hands on.
It's a plush tree trunk, with 3 squirrels. Put them in the trunk and watch the pup try to get them out. It has provided endless hours of fun. Only about $12 on Amazon! Here's the link: http://bit.ly/4IDAqH
Halas loves his Hide-A-Squirrel, and it was one of his Christmas presents last year. I found him the same type of toy this summer, but it's a magic hat with bunnies in it. And just the other day, I bought him another one that's a gingerbread house. The three tiny stuffies inside are a gingerbread man, and square shape, and a bone shape. He really loves pulling the little toys out and tossing them around. He also likes to try to fit all of the little toys in his mouth at the same time. I know I'll buy him some other stuff, too, but I'm not sure what yet.
Oh Michele, That was Murphys favorite toy until he was about 9 months old when he figured out he could tear things apart. He could tell the difference between a squirrel and a ball. If we said "go get your squirrel, or go get your ball" he'd bring the right one!!! We replace it with the jumbo one and it only lasted about a month! He just LOVED it tho. Almost worth the $12.00 to let him have fun with it again.
