What is your favorite shampoo/conditioner to use on your doodle and why do you like it? I'm wanting to switch from the shampoo I have been using and wanted to see what everyone on here likes. :)

I have used a variety of shampoo and conditioners with varying results. I got the opportunity to try a hand made pet soap that I really love and leaves my doodle with a wonderful soft coat. Since Reily is a service dog, out in public a lot, means that he has to be nice and clean - so he gets a bath at least once or twice a week. He is a cream colored Doodle who loves to get into any mud he can find, so it is good he loves baths. This frequent shampooing ocasionally caused some skin irritation. Since using this hand made pet soap from Third Day Botanicals he has had no irritation. They do have an online store where it can be purchased. http://www.thirddaybotanicalsonline.com
So what is the name of the soap they have so many different kinds there at their store. I also wash my dogs more then once a week and my Goldendoodle does have skin rashes now and then under his legs and around his groin area and I'm not sure if this is because of the baths or because of his food yet. I switch from Purina to Nutro and that has seemed to help but I'd like to also buy him a nice soap. Name? and Thank you!
I see that it is a NEEM product - Neem is a wonderful oil for the skin. I have a Neem shampoo that is liquid and it is really good. I alternate with a medicate dshampoo - as Koji is allergic and this helps if he is itching a lot.
Which product did you buy from them? Is it a bar soap? I went to the link and under "Pet Products" there are two bar soaps. I would think it would be hard to disperse bar soap through the entire body. How do you do it?
Thanks for the info! Before I posted this I did a search on this topic and didn't find much. After I posted, I did a search on something else and found a lot of other discussions about good shampoos. I think I'm going to try the minksheen shampoo. Sounds like it's supposed to work very well. :)
I went to the ethnic hair section at the local drug store and bought an inexpensive hair detangler spray. I sprayed it on the matted area, and it worked like a charm! Matt came right out!
Really wow that must be SUPER expensive! How much do you use in one bath? Do you cut it with something or just pour it on him? Where did you hear about this?
I use Buddy Wash by Cloud Star. I tried it and liked it. I buy it now by the gallon to make it much more economical. The shipping wasn't cheap, but I save so much over buying it in smaller containers. I too wash them every one or two weeks. It takes a ton of shampoo for two thick fleece coats. I use the original scent.
I found a Great shampoo and conditioner at Petedge.com. When I ordered my clippers through them I ask the lady if they had a shampoo that worked well and would let Molly smell good for a few days after a bath because my husband always said she smells like a dog soo she suggested I try the Top performance Fresh pet shampoo. It's GREAT!!!! I won't use anything else now. I also bought the conditioner. I just got my new shipment of it I ordered a gallon of the shampoo and conditioner along with some toys and leashes. The place is great. I can wash Molly and she smells til her next bath and is so soft. If they get the slightest bit wet it reactivates the smell of the shampoo. Now my husband says she smells like I just gave her a bath a week after the fact. I used it on our choc. lab also and it made his fur really shiney and soft. They have all kinds of shampoo in the Top performance line for white dogs, black dogs, dogs with sensitive skin ect. They are really a nice company to deal with. Also the Gallon of shampoo I just bought also dilutes down 7:1 so it will last way longer than the shampoo you buy in the stores. I highly recommend it..
I use MinkSheen shampoo, it has a conditioner in it. Abby & Molly have different coat types and it works well on both of them...
Hey there. My puppy is a full lab, so his coat is a bit different from the standard doodle curls, but he has very sensitive skin (which unfortunately really shows on his black coat). I've used a variety of sensitive skin shampoos on him, but my best results have actually come from switching him to a corn and soy-free diet. As long as I keep him on Candidae, he's fine. I've experimented with food quite alot (as a student, sometimes it's either pay my phone bill or buy my dog pricey food), but this is what I always go back to. I wash him every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on how much dust he rolls in (yuck!), and I usually use diluted baby shampoo or an oatmeal wash. All of those "coat refreshers" are HORRIBLE, too ... they dry out his skin immediately. Plus it's kind of weird to have your dog smell like "Tahitian Sunrise." Sorry to ramble:)
