I have a friend with a 6 month old doodle who is very sweet and loving, but is her thrid dog. She did not realize what three dogs in a NY apartment would be like and is now looking to adopt her out. Here is what she writes:
"My doodle is a 6 month old girl appropriately named Lucy. She is in great health and already spayed and loves every person, dog and moving object. She is a white goldendoodle (her mother was a white british golden retriever) and breathtakingly beautiful. If she was my only dog she'd be sensational - but I already have 2 other dogs in a New York City apartment."
I will post a picture as soon as I receive one.If anyone has ideas about a new home for this pup, please contact me.
I am looking to adopt a goldendoodle and I'm very interested in Lucy. I live in northern New Jersey, just 45 minutes from New York City. I'm an experienced dog owner (my wonderful Lab died in August), rescue advocate, and shelter volunteer. Can I talk to your friend? Right this minute? :) Amy Sunshine, Kinnelon, NJ
I am sorry to hold you off, but Jacquie and I spoke last night and she is getting in touch with the woman with the dog already as she has a neighbor who is interested. HOWEVER, the woman who has Lucy has not replied to either of us in 24 hours, so I can't tell you more just yet. There is a very strong possibility that this dog will not be appropriate for Jacquie's neighbor, since the neighbor is familiar with Jacquie's mini and this is certainly not a mini. So, hold tight, we should have an answer in just a few days hopefully, and you are next in line! Ginny
OOPS--sorry, I am new at this. I did mean Amy, but of course, it is ultimately up to the real owner.I am just her representative on this site. I will keep you all posted as this progresses.
We live in upstate (outside Albany) by the banks of the Hudson. We have a 2 yr old golden named Cassidy and a 2 yr old labradoodle named Bailey. They are both females and are very friendly and social. We've been talking about a third (white golden) doodle joining our family. Your friend must be very sad; please let us know if she would like to contact us about adopting Lucy.
In reply to Terri and all others who were following this discussion: I think Lucy has found a new home in New Jersey. Possible owners are meeting her today. I will let you know as soon as it's decided. Thanks so much to all of you --you were so helpful!! By the way, Terri, I must live near you--I am in Chatham.,
