Heartworm and Bordetella questions
I live in the Pacific Northwest and until reading here on DK, I have never really heard about heartworm. Maybe it is not something that is seen much in my area. I have never treated a dog for heartworm or heard of anyone I know treating for it. Right now, Nellie's hair is so very long, I don't think a mosquito could get close to her skin to bite her and my family is never bitten by mosquitos so we don't notice if they are around (we just don't taste good to them). - I am married with two grown children, work at a middle school as a para-educator and have always loved dogs and the outdoors. I love salt water, beaches, gardening, exercising, and nature.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- After having 4 golden retrievers and a chihuahua/corgi rescue, my husband and I learned about mini-doodles and fell for a multigen double goldendoodle pup. We saw her picture online and drove across the state two days later to get her. Nellie is almost 6 months now and we love her to pieces. She is a smart pup and has the happiest, sweetest disposition. She is bringing lots of joy to our lives.

- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- The secretary at the middle school where I work brings her golden doodle to school 2 or 3 days a week to be a therapy dog for the kids. Everyone loves him and he was an inspiration. Then I learned that there were MINI DOODLES!! I had no idea! My ideal dog would be larger and sturdier than our previous chihuahua, want to please us (chihuahuas are total divas!) and would like the water and be hypoallergenic for my daughter. We had lost our last dog about 10 months earlier and I really missed the company of a dog. I started researching and then we found Nellie online.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- Nellie is so much fun already. She is a great car rider, so it's fun to take her places. She loves walking the beach and going in the water. She retrieves sticks and balls and chases robins out of the yard. My husband proudly shows a video where she is pointing before starting to chase a robin. She loves getting a drink from the hose and "helping" me water plants! Once summer comes, she will be paddle boarding with me, going rowing, kayaking, and crabbing.

- Groomer, but I want to learn, too!

- Eco Ears ear cleaner. Works very well for troublesome ears.
