I take Lucy and Ethel Mae to the care home to visit my dad, who is in the last stage of Alzheimer's.  He just lights up when they are there.  It was good to see him smile and laugh when Ethel jumped on on him, as we don't see much of that anymore.

I want to thank everyone for their very kind words.  I will be picking out the perfect frame for my picture this weekend.
Jane, this really warms my heart as we are in the process of placing my mother in memory care facility. Right now she is in a negative. paranoia, delusional stage which is horrible.  I feel better just seeing your photo and knowing that there is sunshine (in the form of dog visits)  in her future.
Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your mom.  There were so many very hard stages we had to go through, including admitting my dad to the geriatric psych ward for a month while they played with his medications.  He was very combative and had everyone at the care home afraid of him.  We are over that now, thank goodness.  I wish you all the strength to get through this horrific journey.  Lord knows it's not an easy one.
Animals give us so much more than we can ever imagine.... They both have a beautiful smile!
That photo is priceless. Ethel can sense his spirit and she wanted to be near him.
That picture is priceless!  You can just feel the joy.  I'm sorry about your dad's illness - that has to be really tough.

Warmed my heart too and I shed a few tears.  You are so lucky to have captured this moment to keep forever.  We are seeing signs with my Dad...just the beginning.  I love him so much and cannot imagine what you are/have been going  through.  Thanks for sharing :o)

Makes me smile too!
