Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I had so much anxiety before taking Ace on a 5 hour (one way) road trip this past weekend. We just were not sure how he'd do. We purchased a kennel for the trip and did a local test drive that was disastrous. He cried and howled and whined and when we took him out, we realized he had peed in there. We knew kenneling him for this trip was not going to work. We decided to let him sit in the backseat with the kids for the trip. SUCCESS!!! He was awesome! He sat, slept, ate back there. He even did something he never does at home, CUDDLE. We only stopped twice for a potty break on the way down and once on the way back. No puking either. YAY!!!! He stayed with our breeder for 4 days/3nights and had a blast. He was a free range puppy during his stay at the breeder. It remains to be seen if he will seamlessly settle back into our routine. When we arrived home last night, he did go right into his crate and slept through the night.

Attached is a picture of Ace visiting with his mama. He is 14 weeks old tomorrow.

Oh how sweet.   I'm glad everything worked out and you are proud of this little guy

Totally awesome!  So happy for Ace and ALL of you!  Ace is so amazing, considering all he has been through!  Great posting and thank you for sharing!

Great news.

OMG, what a great outcome and an even better picture!!!

Congratulations!  Ace did great!!

I'm so happy it worked out so well and the picture is great!

Love the picture.  Happy to hear you had a great road trip, we love traveling with our girls.

Awesome! Very sweet pic, too- I love his fuzzy head!

I put the image in the discussion by clicking on the photo in the tool bar--icon is second from left. He is very cute and so glad he did well in the backseat--but I think many of us might add that you need to buy a car harness for him if you do not have one already--then use the center seat belt to secure it.  If you had to stop short, he could get hurt or hurtle into the kids and hurt them--but maybe you know that and just left it out. Lots of dogs foo better when they are sitting in the seat rather than in a kennel, but the harness is a must.

Oh, and his mimm looks so much like my retired momma dog, Lyric! She is a standard sized Labradoodle and they really look alike! She even sits the same way! This is her with HER look-a-like son, Scotty! he comes to be groomed or boarded now and then, but in this photo he was in a big pen because my dogs have invisible fence.

Oh how precious he is. I bet he had fun visiting his puppy mama! ❤️

Always a relief to find they can travel!  He is adorable and love the picture with his mama!
