Short answer .... NO. You are lucky to have a family member close by that is willing to watch him for you. Many have to go through the process of finding a boarding facility.
I certainly don't think so. I have friends who have never boarded their dog and pay out the nose for someone to stay with their dog in their house - which is great for some people, but if they ever needed to board/leave their dog in someone else's home/a boarding facility in an emergency situation, it would probably be pretty traumatic for the dog. I think it's great that Duncan will have the opportunity to experience life without you and H so early on, and he will be a better, well-rounded dog because of it :)
No way are you bad doodle parents. We all have to leave our doodles at some point, of course we do not like to. I am very fortunate that when I have to travel for work my BF stays at my house and takes excellent care of my babies. I think Duncan may think he is going on a vacation since he loves to play with your Mom's dog :) Go enjoy your wedding and have a blast in NYC. Your puppy will be fine !!!!
BTW - Duncan is absolutely adorable !!!!
I agree with the others, he should be just fine. I would take his familiar things to your Mom's (dish, bed) and have her follow his normal routine as much as possible. Have fun!
Not at all. In fact, i think its a good thing for our dogs to get used to us not being there all the time. The last thing you need is a family crisis and knowing your dog will have separation anxiety. You are lucky to have a family member to doodle sit
Completely agree---the sooner you get him used to spending a few days with "Grandma" the better. As a matter of fact, leave him for a day or two in the near future when you are NOT going anywhere--just to give him more practice!
Of course not. You have the perfect puppy sitter lined up so no worries.
Sounds like you have made the perfect arrangements.
It's only 2 nights and I am guessing it will effect you more than him.
Go and have a great time!
No, of course not. Sounds like you have a great puppy sitter lined up. Hope you enjoy the wedding.
No - mom and dad kept Peri around 6 months and she didn't want to come home after :) Don't worry about it.
