An update on Mariner - seizures free for about 6 months

As some of the long term members may know, our youngest Doodle, Mariner has a seizure disorder caused by a head injury when he was about 7 weeks old.  We have struggled to get him seizure free.  Originally he was on Phenobarb.  We had to continually increase the dosage to controll the seizures.  About 6 months ago we started him on Potassium Bromide.  Although it was difficult to get him to the correct dosage, he has been seizure free.  This has significantly increased his quality of life.  Mariner is also one of the few dogs that have regained eyesight after being blind (this was also caused by his head injury).  Mariner is the "reason" we started the "Health and Medical Group" , "Seizure Disorders Group", and the "Doodles with Special Needs Group".

I only just read your great news now by locking into DOODLEKISSES! I don't seem to get any message alerts from this group anymore??? And my messages are not going through to the group either?

I am sooo happy about this great news for Mariner!!!

Seems the Bromide made all the difference. My friend Sheri from the other Epigroup had the same success after adding Bromide. She feels the pheno didn't work at all and now wants to reduce it slowly.
